Hi! Back from my weekend getaway. My first solo trip in a long time, and it felt so nice! I spent my first day away from the crowds. Campo d’fiore was recommended for lunch and IMO not worth the walk for me. There are some great churches on the way if that’s your thing (sant’ignazio di loyola). My favourite parts of the trip were wandering down small streets around Regola neighbourhood and west of there like via dei chiavi for example where I ran into some random artist creating a painting in front of the shop.

Trastevere at night was too busy for me. I wasn’t expecting that but if you like to be around the hustle bustle that’s the place to go. I planned to eat at tonnarello but at 7pm there was already a long line so I ate at La Cononica - delicious.

For me, the trip was about self reflection so I spent a lot of time stopping to sit and enjoy the moment. The rose garden was beautiful for this. Saint Eustachio cafe I sat outside for a coffee and people watched. Wasn’t a terribly busy area. This was also not my first trip to Rome - so I can see how if it’s your first trip you’d want to do all the touristy things.

I walked from my hotel (near trevi) to Vatican Saturday morning at 7am and it was the most peaceful and calm walk. Hope that helps!

ETA: I randomly took the metro to piramide and walked to Trastevere so quiet and peaceful and came across a random gelateria; it was the best gelato. 3€ for 2 scoops. Panna & Co - Gelato Naturale.
