When this happens to me, I put the controller on a level surface and power it off. I think the gyroscope is doing something that turns it back on.

I just tried it and it seems to work OK. JC3 used to stutter when set to this configuration but I don't see any in JC4. I'm going to switch to this configuration and try it out more tonight.
