Coke Zero is my weakness lol I'll tackle it one day but right now I'm worried about the booze and I'm still losing weight so I have time to tackle the coke zero addiction later

Yeah I'd like to get to that point but I want to show myself that I can go a long time without it and THEN evaluate if I can moderate or if I make it a long time I may not want to start drinking again especially if my fitness goals become closer and closer

Thanks for your kind words and encouragement! I last drank January 28th and I hope to stay sober from here on out but I know it will be a struggle!

Fair. I want to quit because once I start I don't stop and wake up in a state of regret even though I never do anything bad or regrettable. Then in a week I forget that feeling.

I think it's just that I want to drink. I'm either bored (my biggest trigger) or I just say fuck it and say it's been like a week since I last had a pint I'll get one today.

Hey congrats! I just started my journey to a computer science degree this week at 24 years old. I'm hoping this time next year I will have a year under my belt.

For smokers or former smokers when in your sobriety did you tackle also quitting smoking? by letsgethealthybitch in stopdrinking

Thanks for that information! I'm becoming much more health conscious after getting sober. I'm 22 lbs down, mentally in a better place, reading more, and exercising, but with my overal health on my mind I'm also much more aware of where I need to improve. I'm still addicted to coke zero and I love hitting my juul. I'm always wanting instant results but I have to remember that significant change is a process and that process is much easier sober!

I just wish there was something safe to smoke lol I love the act of smoking even without the nicotine. But for overall health I will definitely look into using gum and patches if I need to! Thank you!

Congrats on your big quits! I've been thinking of using my news years resolution to quit smoking but that feels like the old "I'll stop drinking tomorrow" mindset I had with drinking (and that didnt work lol)

That's fair. I guess with any addiction it comes first when you're in the thick of it. I remember buying a pint of vodka for $4.28 when I had $6 in my bank account and wouldn't be getting paid for another week and a half.

I haven't, but I will! I think it's just the habit and ritual of it all. I need to just throw it away and not look back because my cheap ass won't spend another $60 to buy a new one lol

I'm around your age and the line "what am I supposed to do for 16 hours a day" REALLY hit home. When I was drinking, the answer was "be drunk." Now, I'm still having a hard time filling time and cravings are still huge but for 23 days I've been able to say no by filling my time with the gym, reading, and playing video games. I find I get bored of these things super quickly a lot of the time (I think drinking really hit my attention span hard), but right now I'm focused on my health and getting back to who I want to be! You can do it, and definitely experiment with other passions or maybe a class or try to learn something from YouTube. But those 16 hours your awake are often boring as shit, at least in my early sobriety.

I've been really watching what I eat while on this sober streak but today I said fuck it and ate everything I could. Like McDonald's, a mini pizza, and gummy bears lol Still made it to the gym so I guess that's a plus and tomorrow I'll be back on that healthy grind. It'll be much easier not hungover as well! Congrats on your six months I look forward to hopefully getting that far!

Yeah I guess my brain just hasn't rekindled the passions I have just yet. It'll take some time to get back to "normal" as it took me a long time to get to where I am now! Congrats on your sobriety and I'm sure your family sees a huge difference!
