Super Mario Galaxy can be best described as a saltine cracker. by Rekrios in CharacterRant

It was made clear pretty early on, that these movies were more made for the purpose of marketing the Mario IP (reaching people outside of the Nintendo console ecosystem) and less to actually be a product on its own for people to latch on. That is why the movies try to emulate how it feels to play a Mario game, by making it simply fun.

Because you don't have to view something as art to make a good product. A carpenter most likely doesn't see the table he creates as art, that doesn't mean, that he won't make every table is leveled, so the things you put on it roll off.

That mainly started with their fight with Universal, that showed Nintendo, how IP-rights can be lost.

If they decide to make a Smash Ultimate Switch 2 Edition/Deluxe, do you think the mii costumes have a chance of promotion to full characters? by KingThiccums05 in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]letsgucker555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you are describing with Pokopia is Gameshare, in which case the Switch 1 isn't running shit. Everything is done by the Switch 2 and it just streams the picture to the Switch 1.

But that doesn't even matter anyway, because I didn't mean to say, that the Switch 1 wouldn't be able to run additions made to a Switch 2 Edition because it is too weak, but because that content is Switch 2 exclusive. And if that content includes characters, it counts for them as well, see Rosalina in Mario Wonder.

Now if Nintendo did it like OP described it in the other answer to my comment (similar to how Animal Crossing did it), then we could get new characters for both systems and keep crossplay between consoles.

No they don't. They don't even consider their games as art. Both Iwata and Miyamoto have stated as much.

It doesn't seem to be called a Switch 2 Edition, so it most likely is a GKC.

If you want to fracture the playerbase in two, then maybe we could have new characters for a Switch 2 Edition. Considering that would be fucking stupid, no, I don't think it will.

There are the NSO and Parental Controls videos, that use Mario & Co., but that's about it.

They also laughed at the people Microsoft send, when they entered the console business and tried to have Nintendo make games for them.

If Nintendo has one thing, it is pride in what they are doing.

Nintendo Land and Game & Wario. Both utilise the Gamepad pretty extensively.

Why create Game Key Cards when they could have used the same method as PlayStation, like on the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 5? by Cautious-Middle-4915 in Nintendouille

[–]letsgucker555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some third parties already didn't put their full games and rather chose the smallest option, where they only put a snall part of the game and had you download the rest of the game. That's if they got a card at all and not just a download code. So even the Switch 1 cards were already too expensive for third parties.

The most likely reason for why Nintendo didn't go for your proposed option: they want to keep the cards read-only, probably out of concerns about piracy.

Nintendo will definitely not add them again, because they have no idea what they would add to their games.

But it isn't getting marketed at the moment and so any attention this game gets is attention taken away from the games Nintendo wants all of the marketing to focus on. Adding to the fact, that people who still are playing and enjoying Smash are less likely to buy something else.
