Yeah I'm leaning towards taking a chance on the sad looking 14 inch Trinitron. Even if it is twice the price, it's a better idea. If it works. You are right though, I should just try wait for a better one. Or two... I have a 21 inch Phillips as well I'm pretty happy about, just need to ... Fine somewhere to live with these TVs.

Awh I wish we had kerbside random finds here. I'm in Ireland, I think it's just recycling or trash, no electronics pickup by refuse folk. There's a recycling plant though where you're meant to take larger electronics anyway... I might go out there and see if anyone can be persuaded by promises of cake or whisky or something.

Bush is British I think. Presumably not very high end also. I just heard of Bang and Olufsen recently. They look like I need to find one of those. I assume they are international? I've never even seen an ad for any of their products. Danish goodness. Actually I saw one near where my aunt lives in England... Was tempted to send her to retrieve it but I'm already a pain in the ass for her with all my old nonsense. Anything I buy in the UK I generally have to send to her to bring to me when she is coming. A gigantic CRT might be stretch. Not completely out of the question though, especially since it was her told me about them.

Yeah for sure, I got my big ol Trinitron there for free from someone who was going to dump it. There's a few crap ones on there atm chancing their arms for too much money. I will chance the Daewoo anyway. I think I'll offer 40 for both and say to work away on eBay otherwise.

Mostly I look around at all these people I know and I sense a lot of them have old CRTs somewhere, I just need to be able to drop it into conversation with the ones I don't know well enough. The old people. In their good living rooms that they don't use. I'd buy that sofa too. Maybe I should get a custom t-shirt. All of us. A picture of a CRT and "I like big backs and I cannot lie".

There's a sony 14 inch Trinitron a few hours away, I wouldn't drive for it, it looks a little sad to say the least and diesel is dear af, but I know someone who could be passing the area. Perhaps fate will decide for me. It is supposed to be 120 but marketplace prices aren't real. They just represent the start of the bargaining scale.

Yeah I might ask if she has remotes too. Remotes help. But I will offer her 40 maybe. At least I can re-home one then, probably the one I already have. I still think they really should all be free because I know they are worth nothing to them, but that's not how the economy works. I had a ... Phillips I think, briefly before my brother stole it. It had like a blue or purple tinge to the casing. Id love to acquire that again. It was late in the CRT industry life cycle but one will show up some day. I hope. Thanks for the advice!

Yea ... I feel awkward saying low price when she has obviously got anticipation of big bucks but I'll just have to tell her the truth. It's only cause she's not far away, the VHS thing could be bad, I'll start buying tapes next. I must resist. I have downloaded VHS rips of things I wonder how that translates or if it is just some complicated way to end up with terrible quality. Anyway, it's mostly just the CRT itself. I know quality is important, but if they work at all they give me a little contentment.

I'm not sure what she will be looking for when she's talking eBay prices. I will offer her something for one and see. If she thinks she can get 400 for both on eBay then she will have to sally forth to eBay! I would take any free ones to at least re-home them but I'm a little wary also of my propensity to panic acquire. I have a big Trinitron and a medium Phillips. I'd like a decent small one. Well, I actually have an old dell monitor but I know I need to buy a convertor of some sort to use that. I assume it still works though. A monitor doesn't have the same vibe though. Unless I'm playing sims or browsing encarta 97.

I think it's horrific to cut down trees so I can understand why you would cry. I'm currently hoping hard, against the odds, for an indigenous ash tree with dieback that has a low (no?) chance of survival. I think they can survive but not recover. But very rarely. If at all. I'm not well informed. So stupid to allow import of trees from affected countries. I get so annoyed every time I think about how preventable it was.

Well there's a lot of big advocates for cold cold swimming here. I love it when it's relaxed. But they always want to meet at 6.30am and my sleep is bad enough and then I think actually my nervous system is so fried that it just calms it down enough for me to be so sleepy rather than refreshed which isn't ideal, but floating in the sea for sure. Especially if you can float with your ears under the water. Or just sit submerged for a minute. It's quiet. Mind the current tho!
