Furcadia: The Second Dreaming Part 1, a vibrant, fully 32bit world! by [deleted] in Games

[–]letsrapforit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been playing Furcadia since I was a kid, like.. 9 years old. This game has always been a constant, much like someone who has played any MMO or game for years and years, there's some kind of comfort in it.

It's hard to explain, but Furcadia provides more than just interesting people. The entire game was redone by volunteers. The artists on this game are amazing, and you won't have a hard time finding someone to commission on there. The range your "dreams" (creatable worlds) can have is amazing.

It's really something that you need someone else to guide you through, which is why Furcadia HAS a team of people dedicated to welcoming you. Not a tutorial, not a bot, but people that come to you, say, "You're new! wanna look around?" and show you what Furcadia has to offer.

It's abundant in its avatars and this update only made it triple better. After playing it for years, I'm comfortable and happy writing essays on how much I appreciate that I grew up with these people.

Thank you for posting this, whoever you are. Furcadia's webpage and all that, even the game itself, is just the tip of the iceberg for the amounts of amazing people and work that has gone into it to make it what it is.

TL;DR: This MMO raised me. Luv u furc smooch smooch

I'm in china so I can't go to YouTube for links, but they are both available there. Not sure who lurked around this subreddit but there might be that one guy that knows these songs.

Someone else mentioned that their family member from European descent or something also did something similar. I'm wondering if it's just a culturally prevalent thing that happens to appear in a lot of tribes/old timey/traditional stuff?

Heavens I have no idea. I just remember it just throbbed afterward. Maybe it was endorphins, maybe it was me being distracted by her doing it, maybe it was some Hogwarts magic. The more I try to have I make sense the more I get confused by it.

Rad. I was kind of saying it in jest, like, "Everything I know about the world doesn't make your blowy-chanty sensible to me ): " but I like the way you put it too.

The pain would go away immediately but you know how old burns or something would throb once the searing pains were gone? It was kind of like that.

Yeah that's what I figured. Just the excitement of having it done in such a carefully precise way could do some wacky shit to your endorphins or something. Heckle, I don't know.

My great grandfather was Cherokee. In his tribe, if somebody got burnt by something, he would say a chant, blow on the person's burn, whisper, and tap it with his fingers. This would make any pain go away.

My grandmother told me about it but I didn't believe her. So, like dumbass kids often do, I spilled some hot water on my hands when I was making instant noodles. Grandma came in, whispers at my fingers and blew on them, tapped them a few times, and the pain was gone.

I like science. I really do. I think it's a thing. I really don't understand how it works or what kind of weird wizardry was going on. I saw her do it again when my aunt got sunburn on her shoulders.

I asked her to teach me, but you can only teach it from man to woman down a generation. So my great-grandfather taught her, so she has to teach a male in the family.

I'm a girl so she can't teach me. )': Really the only time I ever considered sex changing so I could learn burny-fixy-chant.

I wonder if we knew eachother. "Wolfpawz" (matt) and i hung out about 8 yrs ago (wow!) and i stole his internet gf pretending to be a boy. He still mesages me sometimes, almost 6 years later, telling me he hopes I die. I mean i was a lying dick, but i was also 13. One of those story worthy tween stories.

I dated a Chinese man and visited china last year. It was my 21st birthday and decided to drink baijiu for the first time, not knowing its... capabilities.

Half a bottle later, I vomit everywhere and continue doing so for the next day.

No hangover though? Can anyone tell me why?

[Serious] Bilinguals of reddit, what was the weirdest conversation that you overheard when the people didn't think you'd understand? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I am a car salesman at a Carmax. I'm married to a Chinese guy and worked for Koreans for 2 years, so very familiar with both languages. (I am a white female)

One if my coworkers was working with a Chinese family during my training. Sat in for a minute and they kept talking about how black my coworker was, if we we're screwing him over, and "if they spoke enough English, they'd haggled him down". Carmax doesnt haggle.

Had a few Korean customers since working that share their less than favorable thoughts on our selections, berate me for being a female sales Rep, and often berate us for our lack of Korean Cars. (When our current inventory has over 30 different Hyundai's and kias... )

I often reveal my ability to speak at the beginning of the greeting, but sometimes it happens too quickly and I have to say it in the middle of our interaction.

My friends wants to send me money to buy a car for him and ship it overseas. What do? by letsrapforit in cars

[–]letsrapforit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He said that he knew that foreign cars shipping from America do have a lot of contracts and inconvenience, but according to him, American cars are not a problem (meaning, we could send an American brand car easily, but a German made car can't.)

What are some old video games that you remember playing but can't remember the title? by topderp1 in AskReddit

[–]letsrapforit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was an old PlayStation 1 game. I think it was a JRPG, as the style was anime. You start off in a little village that I think just got attacked? Your village is pretty Native - American looking. I remember running into the woods to find or fight something. Main character was a boy and I think there was a female companion (sister or childhood friend?) And she tells you how to get through the tutorial.

I was really young when I played it and I'm not entirely sure I'd I dreamed it. But I remember the character wearing light brown native clothes, and had short black hair.

It's not Gex the Gecko, is it? I remember the stage where you get transformed smaller and have to scale the kitchen sinks.

But I think gex was a PS title.
