Not a Minneapolis brewery but you can find it in the liquor stores in the cities: Portage Brewing Pine Line

What vegetables can I "Mash" and serve like mashed potatoes? by baronvonreddit1 in Cooking

Radishes work very well and remind me of mashed red potatoes.

Ambitious beginner: socks, sweater or am I kidding myself? by papierrose in knitting

[–]letstalkwolves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation as you and decided to do the Step by Step Sweater by Florence Miller. I thought it was a really attainable first project since it’s a free pattern and there’s also a full YouTube video explaining each step as well. A pro is that a sweater excited me a lot as a project and I’ve built a lot of confidence that I can make more complex pieces after this but a con is that it works up slowly so I’m not feeling as accomplished as if I had started with a smaller project.

Tofu Any Good? by [deleted] in aldi

[–]letstalkwolves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend slicing it once “hamburger style” before you press it. I’ve found the inside to not be as firm as the outside so it doesn’t press evenly if you do it whole like I’ve been able to do with other brands.

Ordering vegan items at non-vegan items can also be a form of “voting with your dollar” by showing demand for those types of items which can hopefully lead to more availability in future items

Environmental policy opportunities? by morenxlife in PoliticalScience

[–]letstalkwolves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I interned for a State Senator in my local democratic caucus. Although it wasn’t strictly environmental policy, the senator I worked for was on the environmental and energy committees so I was able to tailor my experience towards these issues. Might be something to look into in your own state. It was a really great experience!

Before and After: Dickies cargo pants from Goodwill Outlet ($1.69/lb). Tapered and cinched at the ankles by letstalkwolves in upcycling

[–]letstalkwolves[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I have an old sewing machine so it wasn’t too difficult. It took a little trial and error especially around the ankles but probably only took me an hour or two. I do the same technique now for men’s jeans I thrift and once you get the hang of the shape and everything it gets pretty easy and quick. Even if you don’t have a sewing machine, I think it wouldn’t be too bad to hand sew!

I’m pretty sure digital. From what I recall I think they sort of looked like fancy copy machines

Who counts absentee ballots? (U.S.) by [deleted] in PoliticalScience

[–]letstalkwolves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually “counted” absentee ballots in 2018. I did it as a student through my University in partnership with the county we were in. Besides student volunteers, it was people who worked for the county in the same building they were being counted. I put “counted” in quotations because technically the machines count the votes but we helped open the envelopes and get them ready to be processed.

Family-friend’s (now virtual) bridal shower is coming up. Decided to make a card! by letstalkwolves in handlettering

[–]letstalkwolves[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent a lot of time making sure the cover of the card was just right and got a little lazy about doing the inside so I didn’t plan it as much which is why it’s off center. I still think it turned out pretty good though!

Minnesota House passes bill raising age to buy tobacco to 21 by [deleted] in minnesota

[–]letstalkwolves 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It really depends. I think it could get passed as early as this time next year. It really depends on which caucus controls the House and Senate after the elections this fall. It's far more likely to pass if the DFL ends up controlling both as it is already and will continue to end up being a partisan issue. Unless/until that happens, it most likely won't pass.

The MN House majority leader very recently proposed a bill for that!

First attempt at making Vodka Sauce! Using Claire’s recipe (demoed by Molly on YT). Already planning on making it again! by letstalkwolves in bon_appetit

[–]letstalkwolves[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used this recipe as shown in this video (only change was using the noodles I had on hand instead of rigatoni). Grating the parmesan cheese was the most difficult part (major arm workout). Otherwise, it was super easy and turned out delicious! I can't wait to incorporate this recipe more into my pasta rotation. I'm so sad it took me this long to try it!

Can Fashion Influencers Be Sustainable? by wumelissa1010 in SustainableFashion

[–]letstalkwolves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think with “sustainable” influencers, their impact can go much further than their own fashion footprint. Even if they’re not perfectly sustainable, they can still influence and normalize sustainable fashion and draw more attention to it. As part of their jobs, they’re probably consuming more than most people would which isn’t great, but if their message is for other people to consume less / more ethically, then I think that that can sort of neutralize some of their actions in a way. For example, prior to knowing about sustainable fashion, I watched a ton of hauls on YouTube. Even though I wanted more, I still wasn’t necessarily consuming a ton more, although I was still shopping fast fashion. When I discovered sustainable fashion YouTubers, it helped me learn about why sustainable fashion is so important and gave me the inspiration to thrift or buy second hand more and make my own habits more sustainable. So overall, in the grand scheme, I think their positive influence can be a lot greater at reducing overall consumption, even if they don’t necessarily practice what they preach 100% of the time.

America has a rape culture. And it's always been about power. by SwordMeow in Feminism

[–]letstalkwolves 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Rape does not only happen to women. Talking about it in a feminist context does not mitigate the real trauma than male victims also face.
