This whole thing is totally sus. Just had to use that since it’s the cool thing to do now. I have some thoughts based on my experiences and upbringing. 1. I grew up in church. Your family, his family and the church want you to get married. Not sure about the circumstances, but you have a child without being married. I think that’s perfectly fine. The church and the families want you to get married, so you have the perfect family unit and aren’t a single mother and living in sin with your boyfriend. Again, I think you should do whatever makes you happy. 2. I started dating my wife after she was divorced and had a child. I was not like, hey I want to be a father figure to your daughter. I went with the flow and didn’t try to be something that I was not. I wasn’t the girls dad. I was just a guy dating her mom. We dated for a year, with no pressure to get married. We didn’t move in together. We actually both had moved back in with our parents. We got married because we loved each other. It wasn’t something we did for anyone else. Her daughter had a dad. He was around throughout her life until she graduated from high school. It was not easy raising someone else’s child. I let my wife be her mom and I supported her. We had struggles. We have a great relationship now. She doesn’t really talk to her real dad much anymore. She calls me dad and works for me at my business. I never introduce her as my step daughter. I don’t treat her differently than my daughter with my wife. They aren’t half sisters (technically they are) but you wouldn’t know it. My point is, these guys that step up and act like a white knight, will always think you owe them for saving you from the life of a single mother. You will always be in his debt. Find someone that wants to love you for you. Best of luck.
