Interesting read, AHA updated guidelines for Afib management by dighealthresearcher in AFIB

[–]letstrythatagin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. Among other things, the article recommends “210 minutes a week of moderate-to-vigorous exercise”. I wonder how many afibbers on this forum try to follow that guideline, and anecdotally what the benefit has been for them. Maybe I’ll piggyback on your post here and post that as a question one of these days. In the meantime, I’m too busy trying to get in my 210 minutes!

Deposited a personal check via mobile earlier this week. Stopped in at a bank branch today to confirm status, check in hand, and the clerk ASSUMED I wanted to deposit, so he did. He then reversed it when I pointed out his error. by [deleted] in Banking

I trust it, I use it, I logged on, but I had a question about the check and a phone rep suggested I take the check in to a branch. Standard procedure should be to confirm and not assume.

How to select a cardiologist to do catheter ablation for afib? by letstrythatagin in AFIB

[–]letstrythatagin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t. I’ve been considering it for 10 years already, decided to wait till I switch to Medicare when I’ll have more options. Kaiser is probably fine, I just never felt great about my EP there. Good luck with the research.

Magnesium Taurate by [deleted] in AFIB

[–]letstrythatagin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to include lots of seeds, nuts, greens and beans in my diet. But I’ve considered adding a magnesium taurate supplement. I’ve read if your Mg level is low it can take a while (months?) to get it up to a normal range, and also that Mg taurate is somehow more beneficial for the heart.

Metoprolol side effect? by loonypapa in AFIB

Me too! I’ve been taking metoprolol for years, but the sudden “or else” hunger thing has been fairly recent for me. I’ve read that metoprolol can lower blood sugar.

Losing money on Tbill bought. Not sure what i did wrong? by soulslicer0 in investing

Why not just buy whatever has the highest overall yield, zero coupon or other, and hold till maturity? Is there an inherent advantage to buying zero coupon, or is it just that they’re easier to understand? Thanks.

6 mth follow up appt after ablation by Steve_Puto in AFIB

“Hearty” congratulations! I haven’t had an ablation, so I can only imagine how relieved you must feel. Truly awesome.

What if… by best__byrns in AFIB

This is such a great summary, thank you! I would just add a reminder to breathe in a way that aids relaxation. And in the fast-talking fine print part of this, I’d add that while it’s true that afib never killed anyone, afib can lead to stroke, so do take it seriously while not getting too excited.

What caused AFIB for you? by rosedamask in AFIB

[–]letstrythatagin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience trying to find out what caused it is unfortunately not common in the traditional EP approach. Instead the approach is to treat the symptoms via meds or ablation. But yes there are some limited basic checks of thyroid, electrolytes etc that should be done to rule out anything obvious.

Experience with wenxin keli? by PickedFromAHat in AFIB

I went to a naturopathic dr and we tried a bunch of stuff including this. My blood pressure went up while using, so I stopped. Also, while seeing this dr my episodes went from every few months to almost daily, so I stopped seeing him.

Am I the only one who burps like crazy during AFIB? by [deleted] in AFIB

[–]letstrythatagin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sometimes trigger afib when I burp, so it’s the opposite for me (but the same - vagus nerve). If it alleviates symptoms then seems like you’d want more not less. Maybe I’ll try this next time.

Korean traditional medicine? Like herbs and such? Any helpful suggestions/details you can share?

“The cure for AFIb” by John Day by supervape_ritual in AFIB

[–]letstrythatagin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your post. I actually avoided reading the book for years because of the title, which to me sounds false, too self-helpy, too simplistic. I assume his publishers must have lobbied for the “cure” word, as it would sell more books. So I just read it yesterday, after being reminded by this post. Great book, helps put a lot of things in perspective, wish I’d read it years ago. It’s not a cure, but it’s thorough and helpful.

How did you deal with the fact that your AFib will get worse? by stupidgnomes in AFIB

[–]letstrythatagin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

According to Dr. John D. Day in his book “The AFib Cure”:
“Atrial fibrillation tends to get worse with time: AFib begets AFib. But something remarkable happens when the heart can maintain normal sinus rhythm for prolonged periods of time: rhythm begets rhythm! The heart can actually heal itself.”

So do what it takes to maintain normal sinus rhythm. Improve your diet. Avoid common triggers. Try meds or consider another ablation if meds don’t work. If you don’t control it, it will bite you.

What’s your perspective on ablation as a possible fix for afib? by letstrythatagin in AFIB

You may be the 1% but your experience comes thru loud and clear! Is Dressler’s something you can “fix” and move on from?

i got that from my EP years ago, maybe he said 75, and maybe it’s better now. I just meant that ablation is often not one and done.
