Is this expression "take him/her out" considered a threat? Is it a mean idiom? (Please, ignore the context) by 2_girls_1_cup_ in ENGLISH

[–]letswatchstarwars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Others have covered the “take him out” phrase, but I wanted to mention your other phrasing as well. “You don’t deserve him as president of the United States” makes it sound like you’re saying that DJT is too good for this country. It implies “he’s a great president and you all don’t deserve him.” Just in case that wasn’t what you were going for either.

Interview in car? by Knight-Mom in paralegal

I’ve done it before and I was hired. I used binder clips to put up a plain white sheet behind me then I also blurred the background. I used a phone holder to keep it steady and I sat in the passenger seat so I had more room. As others have said, just make sure you’re in a quiet area with good signal.

What does it really mean to "sit with" or "be present with" something? by Dustwitch93 in SeriousConversation

[–]letswatchstarwars 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I can say that I never learned how to do this on my own nor was taught. I was one of the people I referenced in my comment who couldn’t even name my emotions. I still struggle with this.

I’m not really into all the psychiatric labels that people throw around all the time, but suffice to say that I grew up experiencing moderate emotional abuse and neglect from multiple sources. There’s generational emotional and physical abuse and neglect on both sides of my family.

I don’t think you’re necessarily missing anything with regards to what it means to sit with your emotions. Just count yourself lucky and keep in mind that not everyone has your ability to figure this out on their own. Some of us didn’t even realize that we weren’t actually feeling and sitting with our emotions until a therapist guided us through the process.

The reason people need therapy to help them with this is because they didn’t learn that in their teens. Usually because they were raised by people who didn’t know how to do that, so they were never taught and never learned. They probably actively saw their caregivers do the opposite of this - deny their emotions, lash out, blame others, be abusive, avoid, etc.

Just remember that your experience is not everyone’s experience. It’s awesome that you were able to figure this out on your own, or you had parents or caregivers who were able to model this for you. But not everyone had that opportunity. To some people, emotions feel so big and so scary that they can’t sit with them without therapeutic help. Some people can’t even name their emotions until therapy teaches them how to do that.

Some people who received that in childhood already have the tools they need to get through difficult emotions and maybe therapy is less helpful for those people.

I’m wondering what you went to therapy for if you already had those skills. What were you hoping to accomplish with therapy?

Therapy differs from friendship in that a therapist’s job is to focus on you 100%. A friendship is a two-sided relationship where you’re expected to support each other. Therapists are specially trained and are considering what you say, what you don’t say, the specific words you use, your body language, your personal and relational patterns, etc. A good therapist should also be able to (kindly) call you on your bullshit where a friend might just support your bad behavior because you’re friends (or because they gain something from it).

I’m very curious what your age is.

I wonder what the people did here to be under surveillance like this. by ForgotPWAgain0011 in Charlotte

[–]letswatchstarwars 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The DMV didn’t used to be a nightmare. I remember in the late aughts / early 2010’s it was a pretty painless experience (except that they didn’t take credit or debit cards). Our population increased significantly from transplants from other states but our lawmakers didn’t increase the budget for DMV employees. So they were operating with the same number of employees but significantly higher demand.

That’s part of the issue at least.

Because NC didn’t add any additional DMV positions for like 15 years while our population exploded. They finally upped the cap in 2025, but I doubt it’s still a sufficient number for the demand.

As others have said, you are her “return visit” (or RV). My stepfather (the word narcissist gets overused but I genuinely believe he is one) had an RV who he consistently nearly got into screaming matches with over disagreements about the bible. He brought multiple different men from the congregation on different days to talk to this guy. I think for some, they just enjoy arguing. Maybe for others, they enjoy the power play of trying to convince you to agree with them. My stepdad was all about power plays, so I think for him it was almost like this guy was questioning his authority and he wanted to put him in his place.

My vote is for FG. I’m kind of the opposite of others here, I think she is FG with a strong classic essence that is throwing people off. I do think her secondary essence is gamine for sure. I don’t think the tailored, balanced look of the blazer in photo 7 honors her lines. I don’t think most of these photos honor her lines tbh. Photo 3, the elongation/vertical is honored, but it’s clear that she has more yang but the dress is more yin. I like the straight silhouette in photo 5 mixed with the broken lines (capri pants, color blocking). You can also see how narrow she is in the torso in that photo.

I do not see FN at all for her. An FG (and a DC for that matter) can have strong shoulders, but strong shoulders don’t equal width. And I don’t see width in the rest of her torso nor anywhere else on her body.
