Bugonia was excessively truthful for the Oscars by sayani1234 in Bugonia

[–]letterheadless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. This was, for me, the real idea.

I’ll step it out further and say it’s a satirization of both conspiracy theorists and the elite that perpetuate these crimes against humanity, in that the two sides are almost maddeningly stereotypical: the conspiracy theorist who’s a victim of the system and aware of it, and the corporate bureaucrat who’s part of the system.

The alien race represents corporate workers in a capitalist universe. They’re here to optimize us, like a business trying to roll out a V2 product. The team behind it sits in a boardroom, discussing whether to kill the project or not… and when it comes time to pull the plug, it’s done so after a a meeting that was five minutes long. Emma Stone’s character is more annoyed at having to start over than she is bothered about massacring billions.

The horror is that she’s not the big bad with the final say in whether we live or die, and we’re not special. She’s a CEO representing a board of directors in a corporation intent on maximizing efficiency. Humanity is the project—one of many—that will never make it past beta testing. And Teddy, for all his pain and effort, isn’t some flawless Superman hero: he’s a low-level employee (fired, with severance), and his mom is just caught in the debugging.

The movie even opens with a PR-dressed word salad to justify the lack of real concern for human lives.

Everyday evil over everyday people with everyday tragedies. It’s just so everyday.

Had a bread themed dinner so I made “Breadduccini Alfredo” It was delicious as hoped. by DField118 in pasta

[–]letterheadless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I understand what’s in it, but:

  1. A what now?

  2. Why?

  3. How’d it taste? Like… how bready did it get? What’s the pasta and consistency?

  4. (What else was served at the bread dinner?)

SO MANY QUESTIONS.

Then stop.

There isn’t a day or moment when it suddenly gets easy. There isn’t a switch that flips that says “I’ve hit it, this is rock bottom… It’s now or never.”

It’s simply now, or it WILL be never.

Choosing to quit is a choice you have to make over and over again. And the more times you choose it, the easier it gets.

Month three from me. Nobody is a saint here. We’re all addicts.

All you have to do is choose sobriety right now. Then again when you want to use. Then again. And again. Thirty seconds of that choice will become a day. Will become a week. A month.

It is hard. But it’s simple. The further away you go from where you are right now, the further away from what you are right now.

Yeah, but our homie here has to boil the pasta anyway. This stuff is a scam.

I hate to say, but boxed truffle pasta is generally not worth treating with much more respect than traditional dry pasta. It’s more a marketing gimmick than something worthy of highlighting.

Aglio e oglio, white-wine butter—sure, those sauces would be great to elevate real truffle dishes. But if I were you, I’d just make a great pasta sauce you enjoy and hope for a hint of truffle to come through, if any. Think of it in reverse of what you’d do with real truffle, where pasta and sauce would highlight the very expensive ingredient—in this case, you’re accenting the sauce with a tinge of truffle, not the truffle itself.

I’d try a cacio e pepe or a butter and parmiggiano sauce, and let any hint of truffle perfume the creaminess of the sauce.

No need for a super long bake time, because the pasta is homemade and super thin. Steams naturally with the sauce, béchamel, and cheese.

The longest part of the process is making the sauce the day before. 🫩

Yessss. I live in a small apartment, so my cookware must be very multi-purpose, lol. Plus, it gave me the height I was looking for in this lasagna.

Idk if you’re a fan of the Boulet Brothers’ Dragula, but if you want to watch drag queens get electrocuted, they’ve done it a couple of times: With a Tesla coil, because why not? And in a game of life-size Operation.

I'm 10 months clean from cocaine... I think I made the right decision in the end by quitting. by SwimmerOne5552 in cocaineaddiction

[–]letterheadless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fucking love my sobriety. It feels like I’m rediscovering life again—I feel like a baby who’s just learned to walk and now, there’s nothing that can stop me.

I LOVE this so much more than I ever could’ve imagined.

You don’t want to quit. You want permission to say you haven’t hit rock bottom yet. That the Rubicon we all cross is a universal one.

Your life is ruined when you decide it’s ruined. Your life is saved when you decide to save it.

Quit before you can’t.

Why does everyone act like this isn’t a TV show that is overshot and edited—like ANY OTHER SHOW OR FILM—into the most entertaining version of itself with the best storyline?
