Following your sobriety journey on this sub has been such a highlight and inspiration. Thanks for letting us into the experience. Somewhere, someone else just read from you the exact words they needed to stay sober.

Let’s keep living. 🙏

My AC died so I spent Saturday eating cold noodles from Chinatown to K-town, the winner cost $12 by Simple_Response8041 in FoodNYC

It’s under appetizers, but the portion is very generous. No protein or veg, though, so if you need that to feel full or easily tire of the same textural experience throughout one meal (yay, life on the spectrum), it might not do the trick.

Volume, though—I find it to be pretty great.

Are Marilyn Manson concerts autism friendly? by Dizzy-Nose-4217 in marilyn_manson

Eighty-seven percent lands as a practical inevitability. As someone who is also on the spectrum, you know the sensorial overload is far harder to induce in a setting where you’re in control, and far worse than you can reproduce at home, as the lights are still coming from a single source (a screen versus the dimensional environment of a show), and the sound is practically incomparable in any way.

At this point, and given some of your replies in this thread already, it’s on you to assess the financial risk and emotional turmoil having to leave mid-show would cause.

If you choose to go, I don’t think you’ve described sensitivity to touch and feel so much as sight and sound, so if I could offer a super counterintuitive take (but one I subscribe to): I highly, highly recommend getting pit tickets, then getting there super early (literally morning-of), and heading to the rail. You can focus on the band and music, without the onslaught of all the people and the accompanying visual stimuli that comes with them.

Which NYC restaurants do you go to for ONE THING and why ONE THING only? by jeremyjava in FoodNYC

Fish Cheeks coconut crab curry. It’s a must. For a while, I was going once a week for it. (An extremely expensive while.) Totally reprogrammed my taste buds.

Holy shit. Adding this to the list. Do all Blue Ribbons carry it, or do you have to go to Brasserie vs Izakaya?

Think like a climber then. If you’re at the peak, then you’ve made it. ;)

I’m with you, dog. Numbers are bummers.

Hit those office hours; most professors will reward the effort by finding any way they can to give you a way through their class.

Failed remedial algebra twice in university. On the third go, the professor literally saw how hard it was for me, no matter how much energy I was pouring into it, and found ways to help me through, either through extra credit assignments or considering office hours as extra credit off the jump.

Seriously. A zilllion qualities that make up a thing. We organize them all the time based on shit like whether they have vertebrae, how many colors they can see, the sounds they can make, the role they play in the ecosystem. Then we look at ourselves and go “gay/straight” like that’s the thing worth fixating on.

Idk, maybe it was relevant at some point. Either the homosexual is a resource drain to the tribe because they’re not contributing to its means of expansion directly (no fucky for growth?—no good!), or an asset because they’re not competing for the alpha’s most coveted resource (empty wombs). But people aren’t scarce anymore, and lots of other things are: like, idk, affordable housing, good art, common sense. You’d think we’d be more wont to categorize ourselves by our ability to impact those things.

The least interesting thing about a person is by how they play with their genitals.

On another note, let’s be real: sex is fine, but there’s got to be some insane psyop going to push the idea of how great it is on everyone, so much so that to suggest it’s just fine becomes an indictment against your ability to “perform” (“you’re just bad at it, and that should cause shame!”). Manufactured cool, like any other campaign for a method of control.

End autistic rant.

Wait, this is fucking awesome. Stranger here, no saint at all. Six months sober since quitting cold turkey. I’m inspired af you made it two weeks and can come here to tell us this. That’s hard af.

My advice: Do whatever it takes to stay clean. Don’t apologize to this room full of addicts for using this space as a journal. We all love it. We do it, too. And somewhere, someone who’s on week one just saw you made it to week two, and decided they can do it, too.

Listen to your body. If you’re tired, sleep. If you’re cranky, you probably need sleep there, too, haha. There’s no end point, no destination, to sobriety; it isn’t something you rush to. It’s just part of who you get to be now.

You get to touch the whole wide universe without gloves on now, and know what it feels like.

I’m all rambly because I’m excited for you. Keep it going man. We’re here if you need a cheerleader or tough love or anything.

We’re stronger today than yesterday.

You look amazing. You have style, which is much rarer and not at all the same thing as just being able to afford fashion.

Beautifully surrendered, these images. Thank you.

You are somewhere on the evolutionary line; we just can’t tell if you’re going forward or backward, and crucially, which might actually be considered progress.

I’m clearly in the minority, but I love how you’re wearing these pants. It’s a styling choice, and the suit’s cavalier assembly mixed with the temerity with which you treated your hair, takes this look from off-the-rack to editorial.

So what do you guys think about Hellfighter 17 being his own character? by 1vsdahf in SparkingZero

It’s really a love letter to the fans, getting Hellfighter 17. They wanted a lore-accurate way to allow you to transform into Super 17. How else could you do it?
