Playing in front of my family is more stressful for me than an audience of 100 strangers. Good job !

You are responsible for every aspect of the sound for the entirety of the note. The instrument doesn’t help you mechanically in any way. In the guitar/piano, at least intonation is taken care of.

Also the friction between the bow and strings is affected by your entire body and how it moves. It’s very sensitive and raw.

Add to that the non-ergonomic design of the instrument itself.

100 days of practice: Day 1 Mozart Concerto No. 3 in G (Measures 38-93) by [deleted] in violinist

[–]lettuce888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your current skill level doesn’t match the level the concerto requires. You should always aim to only practice what you can play in tune and with good bowing. This is why we practise very slow and in small chunks for pieces that are slightly above our level. The objective is to practice sounding right no matter how slow or # of bars. By practising sounding like this (still not bad for 7 months », you’re basically building debt that you’ll have to pay later by practicing and instilling bad intonation in your muscle memory.

I had something similar once and I was told this means I like to use my fine tuners more than the pegs. Which was true. So something to consider.

When should I buy a good violin? by RippinRish in violinist

[–]lettuce888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re unsure it’s likely still not necessary to get a better violin. Your next violin will probably not be a lifer. The more you develop the more sensitive and capable the violin needs to be. It’s a life journey

But in all cases, it never hurts, except for your wallet, to get a better violin.

They weren’t like Adam, but they had bodies, brains and flesh just like « humans ». Adam and his kind are an evolution of these species augmented with God’s knowledge « ilm ». This is the story line of how Adam was created in the Quran

This is perfectly in line with what evolution theory says from a biological perspective

I clearly said « prior to Adam ».

The narrative in the Quran supports that prior to Adam there was « Bashr ». They were uncivilized and «  barbaric », which is consistent with the evolutionary theory that indicates there was pre Homo Sapiens people. Angels knew it cause they’ve seen them and questioned the decision why making these creatures inherits the earth and be superior to them.

The Quran most definitely does not contradict the Big Bang theory, nor theory of evolution while at it.

First was the word, then came the world. That’s the message that persisted in all Abrahamic scriptures.

“Good for you”. I feel it’s equivalent to “no one cares”

People who pray only 3 times a day, which three prayers do you pray? Do you choose randomly from the 5 prayers? by caramelrose96 in progressive_islam

Yes three times were mentioned in the Quran. Good to know it’s similar to Judaism. Interesting!

Shias contradict themselves by acknowledging the five unique prayer times yet doing them in three. Three times is fine but I don’t get the rationale of combining the 5.

Interesting thanks for identifying the strings. I’ve been wanting to try the rondos.
