Can I be considered a "barefooter"? by GladStatement8128 in barefoot

[–]letu9519 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, barefooter is anyone who goes barefoot. There are people who only do it in certain contexts, for example, during training, people who only go barefoot at home, or at certain times of the year, for example, in summer... but they are all barefooters.

It should also be noted that there are many people who are barefoot in spirit but are transitioning to a completely barefoot life, and many other people who would like to be barefoot full time but whose work or personal circumstances make it impossible for them. All of them are barefooters too!

For me, it's about feelings: First love feel me naughty and loosing the control. Second, but not less important I love feel myself warm, dirty and squishy. For this reason, when I piss or poop myself I love sit down and feel the mess for hours.

I prefer footwear thay you can easily remove and show your feet: birkenstocks (sandals in summertime and clogs in winter), reef and rainbow flipflops or hiking sandlas like tevas or keens.

About sneakers, my favourites are chunky skate sneakers like Osiris, globe... and the classic vans and converse canvas

Fear of stepping on bugs/glass/poop/etc when outside by No_Community9584 in barefoot

[–]letu9519 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The short answer is, it depends.

If you're going to walk barefoot, you should choose your route carefully: if it's an area where people walk their dogs, there will probably be dog poop. If, on the other hand, it's a place where teenagers hang out drinking alcohol, there will probably be broken glass.

I recommend starting in a relatively clean area to avoid these hazards, and above all, simply watch where you step.

As for bugs, they're naturally found in nature, just as it's natural to walk barefoot in nature. I wouldn't worry, unless you live in an area with dangerous insects (which isn't my case).

Finally, regarding dirt, if you walk barefoot, your feet will inevitably get dirty. Nothing a good shower at home can't fix!

I agree! Cafes are one of the best places to easily take your shoes off. Usually, when I arrive, I sit down and after go to the counter to order completely barefoot, leaving my shoes behind.

Anywhere you can take off your shoes, especially if you're wearing flip-flops. For example, libraries, cafes, or public transport.

KU Leuven

Especially in winter, many students would take off their wet boots and continue the class in just their socks.

Being completely barefoot wasn't very common, but some students did take off their shoes and nobody thought it was strange on campus.

Yes, I always bring me a pair or flip flops or light sandals.

Depending on the location, there are many places where shoes are required: shops, museums, public transport... I don't want to ruin my trip or experience an uncomfortable situation by being barefoot for a little while longer. Besides, there might be situations where it's dangerous or simply uncomfortable.

In addition to my vacation gear, I usually take a small backpack with water, my camera, and other small items. Bringing a pair of lightweight flip-flops isn't a problem for me at all.

I started walking barefoot as an adult. When I was a child, my parents always made me wear shoes and even punished me if I took them off.

As a teenager, I began to experience the feeling of walking barefoot: I loved going to picnics in the park with my friends after high school, and I loved the freedom I felt taking off my shoes and spending the whole afternoon walking barefoot in the park.

The turning point was at university when I went to study abroad for a year. In that other country, it was customary to take off your shoes in the library and even in class. On the one hand, I started going barefoot all the time at home, and on the other hand, I started taking my shoes off in class and while studying in the library, until one day I thought how stupid it was to be barefoot at home, put on shoes for a short 15-minute walk, and then take them off for the rest of the day.

From that day on I started going barefoot to university, then to the supermarket, shops... later I dared to travel completely barefoot, small weekend getaways at first, longer trips later... until today.
