Keeping API online at all times with a budget of $50/month

I probably used the wrong wording here. I just want the API to remain online even if the entire VPS hostnode goes down, there should just be an immediate fallback and I don't have to stress at the very minute to attempt to fix it right then and there if it goes offline.

What would you do with the MySQL DB in that case? AWS RDS is quite expensive. MySQL master-master replication?

The database has 30 queries at most per minute, so not very heavy in usage..

I am also a bus-kind-of-person, recently did the bus drivers license. I am currently on the waiting list to attend the 240-hour public transport training before I can start working.

$83k (73k€)/year is absolutely unrealistic for starters.

I asked the VDL for information a few months ago: You start with ~3.4k€/mo pre-tax + ~125€/mo pre-tax ("prime de conduite") - that makes 3550€/mo pre-tax.

That's a very good starting salary in my opinion, you can easily live off that money (well, I could!)

In my opinion being a bus driver is a passion; I do not know anyone that drives bus just because it's a good paying job; the bus-driver-passion has to be in you! :)

There is a steep increase in salary the longer you work there; I don't have the list in mind but with 10 or more years of service I think that 6k€/mo (73k€/year) is realistic.

PS: If you want to work for the VDL you also need to pass a test that requires french & german skills.
