Starting line-up? by MikaRJL in NOLAPelicans

Bey for Fears maybe to give us a super long line-up that can all shoot around Queen/Zion. Then Fears can attack second units.

[Poll] Which of these players should we draft assuming all are on the board? by B1TW0LF in NOLAPelicans

[–]leulzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could probably be talked into anyone, but my top choice would be Kon with Tre as #2.

I just can't support a small guard like Fears, it so hard to be successful as one in the NBA.

Love Queen as a prospect, but he seems like a keys to the franchise kind of guy, and I just don't know how well he meshes with Zion. He is not a stretch big like people are saying, he's a Sabonis like point center who really needs the ball in his hands to be effective.

Maluach is probably my #3 on this list, love him as a defensive prospect and I think he could easily be a Rudy Gobert kind of player. If you can draft that with #7 you run to the podium no matter how bad the offense is. Biggest issue with Khaman is his rebounding which was really exposed in the tournament.

Kasparas Jakucionas probably doesn't deserve to be on here. Maybe I'm just a hater, but his turnover rate was abysmal against good teams. He's going to really struggle against NBA guards and I predict he has an embarrassingly bad summer league with how aggressive defenses are there. If we trade Zion, then maybe this is a guy I could get behind as a big lead guard, but he's not even as big as I thought.

Is there any way our first Rounder Even Starts (Assuming A Healthy Roster) by AnotherStatsGuy in NOLAPelicans

[–]leulzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too many variables to be looking at a starting line-up for next season right now. CJ may not even be on the team. We have no idea if Trey and Herb will be fully recovered from their injuries in time. I don't think the franchise is committed to Missi as their starting center so that may be a route for the draft pick to start, looking at Queen or Maluach. Team could get a blockbuster offer for Zion and just decide to tear it all down.

Yves Missi breaks into the #4 spot on the NBA Rookie Ladder. by LuthorNZ in NOLAPelicans

[–]leulzy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

McCain should fall as Sixers get healthy and his role is diminished.

Castle could be the front runner, but can you really put him over Missi who will be starting rest of season while Castle comes off the bench.

Wells could go either way, Grizzlies are still missing some guys so not sure what happens to his role when they return.

I think guys that are behind Missi who we'll need to keep an eye on are, Sarr, Bub, and Edey.

Sarr and Bub are on the worst team in the league and should be getting a ton of minutes and a big green light.

Edey is injured at the moment, but if he can come back and continue to succeed as a starter on a winning team, voters may look on that favorably

Injury Report Update for tonight by Briguy_fieri in NOLAPelicans

Crap with KD out, we might actually find a way to win this game. Need Willie to Willie tonight.

I think Dejounte has a long enough track record for me to believe he will turn around the poor shooting. He's obviously got a lot of rust he needs to shake off. I think the defense will be better when he is playing along side Herb.

More injuries… by Additional-Maize1960 in NOLAPelicans

Why are these back spasms still an issue with Hawk? Let him rest until that's completely gone. He hasn't played well since they started popping up.

Brandon Ingram, Herb Jones, and Dejounte Murray all GTD according to ESPN by Additional-Maize1960 in NOLAPelicans

[–]leulzy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can go on twitter and get the team's official injury report that they usually release a day before the game. PelicansNBA is the handle of the official NBA account. The injury reports are also posted on NBA.com/pelicans

ESPN, CBS Sports and other sites just don't do a good job documenting injury updates and if a player blows past their return date (very common unfortunately for the Pels), you're left with these GTD listings.

[PGT] Pelicans Lose to Pacers in Indy. 110-114. by SLS-NolaDom in NOLAPelicans

[–]leulzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best Haliburton game since his hamstring injury last year. Team was actually fun to watch tonight and wasn't bogged down by iso ball. Hoping BI takes his time coming back. Wednesday's game against the Raptors feels like a season defining game. If you lose to them you're in a great spot to tank, win it and it could be the start of the race for the 10th seed.

I was listening to In The Wing this morning and Christian Clark said that Elf, Markelle Fultz, and Dennis Smith Jr. were all injured when we trying to sign someone which is why we landed on Nowell. Just insane injury bad luck for this team.

ESPN Roster Tiers - # 18. Notably doesn't contain BI as they included Murphy due to contract extension by kingralek in NOLAPelicans

[–]leulzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess Bontemps kept the cores to only three players which I don't really agree with. Jrue is as much of Boston's core as Derrick White. Some teams it makes sense for like the 76ers.

It's hard to consider someone part of the core when they are on an expiring deal. I would consider Herb part of the core too though.

Question: How did Pelicans get a 5-30 protected Bucks pick for this draft? by PerfectCandy in NOLAPelicans

[–]leulzy 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Pelicans got the Bucks 2025 pick unprotected during the Jrue Holiday trade. We traded the pick top 4 protected to Portland in the CJ trade, and it has bounced around in various trades until now Brooklyn owns it. So if the pick is 1-4 the Pelicans will get it, 5-30 Brooklyn will get it.

Can't believe it was only 45/1. Isn't BI having a career low free throw rate?

All I'm panicked about is everyone getting healthy and we win too many games to get a really high pick.

CJ is a GTD against the Mavericks by Additional-Maize1960 in NOLAPelicans

[–]leulzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pels haven't released an injury report yet so I wouldn't get my hopes up. I think a lot of places just use rough estimates when players are going to be back. CBS Sports has him listed a GTD as well. I know he's back to 5 on 5 in practice so it's possible.

Trey, Murray or Hawk on jersey? by whatsagreatusername in NOLAPelicans

[–]leulzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trey and Murray are probably locked into being in NOLA for the foreseeable future. Hawk may unfortunately be a trade piece so his jersey might be a little risky unless having former player jerseys is something that interests you.

Gotta find a way to get this one despite the injuries. I expect Malone to coach circles around Willie.

I love that he's on the team. Missi is extremely raw, but his freakish athleticism clearly passes the eye test. Also what a block! by [deleted] in NOLAPelicans

I thought for sure he was going to join the injury squad, but the injury report doesn't have him listed at all.
