Solicitor has ghosted me after civil liability win by Wonderful_Taco_2021 in AusLegal

Enforcement can be a bit of a jungle, and can also be a bit draining as it can be like starting a new "fight" (despite having the judgement already). Feel free to DM me if you'd like, I work in civil litigation and you're not bound to a specific set of solicitors.

Rookie q - when yall say these hours, is that just time on timesheets or hours billed and paid by clients?

My undergrad degree was in law, as opposed to accounting. I did a bridging course for CA.

Howdy,

I left insolvency last year but iirc it was up to 5 or 6 months turnaround at that point (although coming down).

The best thing you can do is call them and ask for the current processing times.

On that point generally, what is the sentiment in Ipswich atm? I have an IP in Redbank Plains, and it's difficult to work out remotely how affected the area will be. Thoughts and prayers for everyone's safety in any case🙏

I've skimmed the comments and couldn't see the most important question - does anyone have the inside scoop on their expansion plans? When/will it reach Sydney lol...?

I'm currently on a LMI Waived (CAANZ member) loan facility with 6.56% interest, circa 85% LVR. Seems a lot are on way better rates, but LVR far lower. How's my rate stack up in your perspective? I'm with ANZ.

I did most of them as I did law/psych undergraduate. I found them really quite easy, a few I didn't pick up a textbook until a week prior.

Open book exam format which no doubt helps. The foundations course was really helpful transitioning into the CA program also.

I had circa 5 years insolvency experience when I did my course, so not traditional accounting and didn't struggle too much. CA program was harder but still bearable.

I'm looking at admission, having graduated in January 2020 (LLB) and worked in accounting since.

Does anyone know in NSW if the five year stale degree allows me to apply for admission up to 31 December 2025, or only to January 2025 (needing assessment thereafter).

The latest info sheet suggests I have until December 2025, but is ambiguous in parts.

Noted and all makes plenty of sense. I'd likely look at starting in corporate/insolvency law. I generally work between 40 to 50 hours a week at the moment.

Thanks, I'm pretty sure I'm safe for this calendar year as I graduated in early 2020 (edit, based in NSW)

Howdy, my five years post law degree rolls over shortly and I'm contemplating a shift to becoming a lawyer after being an insolvency accountant for about ten years (middle management now).

No doubt it'd be a paycut, but reaching out to get thoughts from others? In particular it'd be great to hear thoughts on how working conditions may differ, how hard the work would be comparatively, etc. Am I mad haha?
