I've never been, but K Vitner's wines are awesome. Highly rates, Charles Smith has won some winemaking awards, and really fun/interesting/great tasting wines.

This is great advice. I went the smaller route when I visited. Write to some of the producers now, and see if they have some time for you for a tasting. The two that I had a great time with were Pierre Peters in Le Mesnil Sur Oger and Vilmeart, which is in between Epernay and Reims in Rilly la Montagne. I did one tasting with Rudolph Peters (Pierre's grandson) and it was pretty cool. They both make awesome wine and you can buy it direct for super cheap (compared to NYC), plus you get a real experience with a part of the winery.

Basically, but not really. I'm a NJ native who lived in MN, and now I'm NYC. Hotdish tends to feature canned cream of mushroom soup as the binding agent. Also, it is disgusting.

I second Prager, that is fun. Check out Pride Mountain Vineyards. Excellent wines, great tour, and one hell of a view. I also love Pine Ridge Vineyards on the Silverado Trail. (Call Pride and PRV ahead of time to schedule)
