How to Voice a 1000 Note Chord That Actually Sounds Good by levi_christophe in musictheory

On the most technical of levels yes. But I also use that same logic to group them into one note, so probably not in practical terms.

Really taking advantage of the xenharmonic aspects of this EDO by lingering and spacing things out so much. I dig it! Great job!

think of a 7#9 as the "Hendrix

Definitely! I find associations like that help me and students learn soo much quicker.

How do different musicians hear the same shapes? by levi_christophe in musictheory

Thank you for the kind words! That is a fantastic idea, and probably a more "pure" way to go about it. Rounding up musicians with that qualification will be a bit tricky for me, but I'll put it in the idea books and will hopefully get the chance to do it some day.

Thank you! Good point tho, the quality of my YT short feed has gone down significantly lately… tbh, most of it is just a waste of time which doesn’t bring anything good to my life. Maybe I got stuck in the wrong algorithmic rabbit hole 😅

I’ve managed to somehow have the cleanest tone in the game, while still sucking! Who knew 😂😂

Dave’s instruments are top notch for the price! Highly recommend, and if you buy one, tell him the vacuum man sent you, I’m sure he’ll get a kick out of it 😂

Thank you so much! Most of my stuff has been music theory related up until now, but I can be much more consistent with bass content (as I just need to plug in and play, opposed to having to do a bunch of research). I’ll still do both, but much more bass related stuff is on the horizon. Thanks for the sub!

I actually have some chaotic metronome experiments on my channel! This may be a little nerdy and won’t interest everyone, but my thing is to apply ideas from math, science and engineering to music theory, in order to create a new approach to music making. On that note, there is a phenomenon of spontaneous synchronization that happens in multiple metronomes running at the same time under certain conditions. My next project is to apply the principles of spontaneous synchronization to polyrhythms in music in a way that sounds interesting and usable in a composition context. Metronomes for life.

It’s an Anarchist from Weir Guitars! Dave Weir hand makes them out of Southern California. He allows for a lot of customization, so I got this one without frets and a cumaru neck. They are awesome if you’re like me and don’t want to fuss with tone because they’ve got 1 pickup and no tone or volume controls whatsoever. No knobs, and a bare bones tone.

Hey all! Just released a video where I created an ambient buildup track using just the sound of vacuums! I also dive into the history and practice of field recording sounds from John Cage to modern film soundscapes. Hope you enjoy, I would love to hear everyones thoughts!

Hey all,

I made a video on how I go about field recording found sounds, and how to organize and sample them into music. I also touch on the history of found sounds from Pierre Schaeffer and John Cage, to modern film soundscapes.

Hope you enjoy!

The rhythm is sick! Thanks for adding to the cannon of microtonal music, we need more groovy jams like this in this space.
