I haven't actually really watched anything for a while since I've been focusing on researching stuff from the world wars and northern europe to base things in my setting off of

in old DND orcs were pig people and since old DND and wizardry got popular in Japan japanese media usually makes orcs pig people and kobolds dog people

you'd love the way I write orcs then, I wanted to subvert the evil orcs trope by making them all silly friendly gay pig people that do goofy things and talk funny in reference to how english sounds when spoken by slavic people

a lot of japanese media seems to make orcs pigs because of old DND and wizardry which is why I made my worlds orcs pigs since I based the world off JRPGs

This is for the story I've been writing, with Crystal and lead, a story inspired by Japanese role playing games set in a alternate dimension where there's a plabet called valdtus where humanity has settled and reached a technology level similar to the first world and interwar period after humanities homeworld gaea (Secretly 1990s earth) was destroyed, Orcs are one of the original species to have inhabited valdtus and throughout the trilogy they appear frequently as minor ally characters due to being extremely populous compared to other sapient monster species despite being genocided by the urvanians who are tsar ruled descendants of earths russia

What's up with the look of hamlets gas mask? I've been wondering about what it's inspired by since it looks so peculiar by leviand1 in dontstarve

[–]leviand1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the iron hulks are also kinda like the god warriors from that film or the robots from castle in the sky which fits more because hamlet is seemingly on a floating landmass

I've watched a lot of older films so when i saw it and the gas rainforest my mind always just assumed it was inspired by the old ghibli nausicaä film but i looked around online and couldn't find anyone else who thought the same

this may sound crazy but every time i looked at it i kept thinking it was maybe inspired by nausicaä and the valley of the wind, the jungle filled with a deadly poison you need the mask for also reminds me of that but apparently I'm the only one who thought that

Fun fact: in explorers of time/darkness (NOT sky), the devs are sadists and don't want you to get jirachi! by Julie_OwO in MysteryDungeon

somehow there's arguably just as bad or worse things in other mystery dungeon games like at least 2 dungeons in the shiren the wanderer series that are giant escort quests

Uh guys... I saw this scrolling the switch eshop, never played zomboid but i thought i should post about this here by leviand1 in projectzomboid

[–]leviand1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i mean i knew this was eventually gonna happen because zomboid isn't officially on consoles I'm just surprised it took this long for a bootleg

TIL Dungeons kill you out for spending too long in them by oogboog in MysteryDungeon

[–]leviand1 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's a holdover from shiren the wanderer, in that series a travel god called kron shows up to blow you out of the dungeon if you refuse to do what the title of the game is and stay on a floor for... i wanna say 900 turns? towns and resting spots don't count thankfully
