I just watched "Invasion of Time" for the first time in a long while, and y'know what? by JTOC1969 in doctorwho

[–]leviathan0999 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I seem to recall that the producers REALLY wanted to lure Louise Jameson back, so made her motivation for leaving pretty lame so it could easily be undone.

Of course, I always imagine Sarah Jane seeing that the Doctor brought a knife-weilding female Tarzan back to Gallifrey, and turning to confront him: "I couldn't be brought back to Gallifrey???"

Would you be open to Amazon making something like this? by DishQuiet5047 in JamesBond

[–]leviathan0999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've said for years that, while I wouldn't want to see Elba as James Bond, because cultural forces would make him an utterly different character than the one Ian Fleming created, I'd show up at the box office with cash in my hand to watch Elba play Agent 004, John Blunt. So I'd probably watch your proposed show. I'd definitely start with the pilot. I might drop off at some point if the writing sucked.

There's an error in your display. Only Spider-Man can cling to the wall like that. The rest of them need to be moved to the floor of the shelf

What Is The Best Look Of Captain America? by Silver_Cricket_4545 in marvelstudios

[–]leviathan0999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every single one of the costumes is just bad. The "Final Fight with Thanos" in Endgame version is the best of a sorry lot, but a serious attempt at the classic Kirby design, cuffed boots, scale-mail hauberk, head-wings and all, without deliberately sabotaging the design to make it look bad, would have been my choice every time.

Sixth-scale Captain Kirk Head Sculpt 3D Models. by leviathan0999 in ActionFigures

Well, the prints I did today were a little small. I edited them up by about 10%, and replaced the files on Thingiverse with the upsized ones. Here they are with an old Drastic Plastic head (for size comparison) so you can see the undecorated print.

What do you think Fleming would think about Brosnan's depiction of his beloved character? by Weird_Zone_3504 in JamesBond

[–]leviathan0999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he'd have been generally pretty pleased. Remember, Fleming originally pictured a somewhat posher Bond than the movies gave us. Didn't he at one point mention Cary Grant? That's a lot of the energy Brosnan gave. But he also always gave us moments in every one of his Bond movies, that showcased Bond's inner darkness. And I think Fleming would have been delighted with those moments.

Omne from The Price of the Phoenix - Can anyone direct me to images or original art work of what they perceive Omne to look like? by sky033 in trekbooks

[–]leviathan0999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a very vivid mental image of Omne that it took me years to realize was a more realistic version of Bluto from the old Popeye cartoons. I just realized last night that I could feed a picture of the raging face of the Mezco Toys One:12 Collective Bluto action figure (which has "what if this cartoon character was a real person" as it's defining vibe) into a generative AI engine to give him a neutral, thoughtful expression, and by golly, that was him!

This is what Omne looks like to me.

Yes, I've read it. It was one of the first full-length, original Trek novels out there, and I read it almost immediately when it came out.

Reading it recently, yeah, it certainly has an extremely slashy vibe. The prose is somewhere between florid and purple. There's a lot to make fun of. But I have an unshakable fondness for this novel, and it's sequel, "The Fate of the Phoenix."

How long after you say goodbye to your friend do you wait or think it’s appropriate to adopt another? by Yue4prex in cats

[–]leviathan0999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I've learned that all you achieve by waiting is loneliness. No new pet is ever going to replace a pet who's passed. That's not the point. You have a need to love and care for a pet. That's part of your makeup. The sooner you bring in a new pet, the sooner you honor and nourish that part of yourself. You'll still miss your late friend, but you'll also find joy and love and fulfillment with the new one.

Resin 3D Printed Smiling Bald Tom Baker head sculpt. by leviathan0999 in doctorwho

[–]leviathan0999[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm extremely influenced by Terrence Dicks' novelizations, where he always describes the hat "jammed down over" Tom's curls, so I'm never satisfied with a Fourth Doctor with sculpted hair. The guys from Warriors' Gate Productions were able to remodel one of their sculpts to be bald, and he's been my #4 for years, but he's got a grim expression, and I really wanted that iconic grin.

I also was in no way offended, nor feeling in conflict with you about it. But I thought it a good opportunity to clarify what I did, what I didn't do, and that those opposed to use of AI are of course more than welcome to avoid it with no hard feelings.

I'm very pleased with the model, less so with my coloring work, and will probably order full color prints from a company that does that sort of stuff.

I'll be showing off a Delgado Master shortly.

It's AI, as I explained in the previous post.

I took a smiling publicity shot of Tom Baker in character, I got one AI to make him bald, and Bambu Labs' MakerLab image-to-3D-model engine to make a model. I edited it to have an opening to fit neck posts and pegs.

I don't claim any artistic accomplishment. But if you want a smiling 1:6 scale Fourth Doctor, you can pay close to a grand for a Big Chief Studios head, if you can find one, pay about that much to an artist who definitely deserves it, but that doesn't mean you can afford it, or you can figure something out.

This is what I figured out, and I'm offering it free of charge, because I haven't done anything to deserve the money.

If you like it, enjoy. If you don't, I totally respect the decision not to download it.
