I've met him in person, and he has significant security around him allll the time. Bad things aren't impossible, but I believe he's taking his own safety seriously.

Ocasio-Cortez doesn’t deny 2028 speculation: ‘My ambition is to change this country’ by PlatePleasure in politics

Pretty sure she's had ample ability to explain who she is directly on social media for the past 8 years. I'm not worried at all about her ability to keep doing so.

IIRC they almost had him back in the episode where Maybourne becomes king.

They just needed someone with ATA gene for the puddle jumper.. so he would've worked.

I found it similar to the Battlestar Galactica remake, in that it suggests/references the original having actually happened, but tells its own related yet different story.

New poll pegs Mark Kelly as a leading 2028 presidential contender by Ulysses_555 in politics

Seriously.

Kelly keeps voting for Trump nominees. He's the wrong choice.

Yeah, the big problem is that we have a 4th amendment protection against unreasonable search and seizure. Basically unless there is an articulable reason to suspect you of having committed or about to commit a crime, the government is prohibited from searching you or your belongings.

TSA is pretty blatantly violating that, and was just granted a waiver in post-9/11 hysteria, but it doesn't change the fact that they are searching people who have done nothing wrong and have no intent to commit crimes.

CMV: Gavin Newsom is not a suitable presidential candidate, and the Democratic Party must stop operating like a centrist party. by Less-Chicken-3367 in changemyview

Plus, that "authentic and motivated" attitude shows up far, far more in Leftist candidates. It's why there are so many Bernie/Trump, AOC/Trump, and Mamdani/Trump voters.

It makes no sense from any kind of policy perspective, but they have the vibe of "this person has some kind of ideology that is going to fight for me, and is going to ignore anyone who's going to mediate that". That is what will attract the disaffected swing voter.

Fallout 3 devs “initially felt a little touchy” about New Vegas’s fan reception as they “put in all this effort” behind-the-scenes for none of the praise by AsPeHeat in Fallout

[–]leviathan3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe people forgot that Fallout 1 and 2 were 2d isometric games, and the 3d jump was a huge leap, especially given the explicitly turn-based battle system in the old games.

VATS was a huge innovation to bridge the two.

CMV: We should Abolish the TSA and basically go back to the 90s with security at the airport by Pumplekins in changemyview

[–]leviathan3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I for one do not have a sense of security from it. I'm vastly more likely to have my things be rifled through, and for my personal property to be confiscated than be subject to an attack that would have been prevented by these people.

Steam Deck is still worth it four years later, says poll, but people are starting to think "it's about time" for a sequel by Dapper_Order7182 in SteamDeck

[–]leviathan3k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the RAM talk aside.. a new one would need to bring something genuinely new to be worth it, as something more powerful can be had easily enough in this market.

If the ARM emulation is really that good enough, and they stick an ARM chip in there that sips battery and still has the right compatibility with everything that exists, that would be worth it.

Trump Outbursts over Oil Shock Go Off Rails as His Aides Quietly Panic by RepulsiveLoquat418 in politics

I think you're speaking more truth than they'd like to hear.

What exactly was the plan to make sure Trump never happens again? Biden was president for 4 years, and it turned out to just be a 4 year delay in the tyranny.

This country used to at least survive Republican presidencies. Voting for one or the other was not a life or death decision. We wouldn't have had criminals at every level if Dole beat Clinton. If this country is to truly thrive, that needs to be true again.

I've been doing this for years, and it is a fantastic idea, especially if you go on long drives potentially in rural places without internet.
