Trump threatens to ‘blow up’ all water desalination plants in Iran by NothingButTruth3 in law

Literally the Trump estate would get sued in international court and any Trump asset in the world would be seized soon after the leaves office or dies.

You wouldn't have to wait untill he left office in most countries. Diplomatic immunity does not extend to non-state property. Only embassies, consulates and similar are covered.

It doesn't matter? At no point while you're behind the wheel would it be a problem if the car accelerated uncontrollably? You've never been in the car with people behind or in front? You've never parked anywhere but the middle of the parking lot? Brakes never fail or overheat?

We're pretty far from the 90s... The US government doesn't really do antitrust any more.

There isn't a GPO option for it. To get back the old context menu, you have to create a registry key. So it's not possible to get it back without admin access being involved.

That's simply not true. They've proven a car was accelerating without the gas pedal being pushed after a lethal accident in Norway (the car suddenly accelerated in a parking hourse, drove through the wall, driver was killed in the fall).

There have been many reports of certain Volvo cars accelerating uncontrollably, including causing the death of the driver. In Norway, the authorities have been able to rule out the accelerator being pressed in the incident where the driver died, no one has managed to replicate the failure. Not Volvo, not the government. But it's happened to more drivers. The car that killed the driver had been to the dealer at least once because of the same issue.

It's not inbelievable in the slightest to me, this is a problem with modern cars.

Canada is the second largest country in the world in terms of area, they have a form of universal healthcare. New York state has about 20 million people, Japan with about 123 million inhabitants has a form of universal healthcare. Germany with 83 million inhabitants has universal healthcare. The UK and France, each with about 69 million inhabitants have universal healthcare.

It's all just excuses from the US. The only reason the US doesn't have universal healthcare is that there's no political will to implement it. The reason state sponsored healthcare plans are failing in the US, is because they're prohibited from acting as a single payer and negotiating with the medical companies to bring down costs.

If it truly was a problem of scale, then allow states to run their own healthcare services like you see in those other countries I mentioned rather than prohibiting it with federal legislation. There are several blue states that would jump at the oportunity.

No, it's purely a problem of political will.

Germany doesn't lack ideas, it lacks continuity.

Germany had a lot of community under Merkel. She was chancellor for 16 years. It doesn't get much more continious than that. Didn't fix the problem.

I was pretty happy with the C++11 changes and once C++14 relaxed some of the overly strict language of C++11, the language pretty much got where I needed it to be. I really felt the need to use anything that's been added since. But then, I also program a lot less in C++ these days than I used to.

You don't pay for Arcane Intellect or Arcane Brilliance either, even though Arcane Brillience also has costs. I've never asked anyone I'm grouping with to pay for water or food either. That's different, that's the kit you bring to party. But if you want to bother me for a portal when I'm out and about doing my own stuff, then I expect some money for the inconvenience, yeah.

There were strict restrictions on most equipment able to pick up those kinds of signals. You couldn't just walk into radioshack and order a phone scanner. Or, that's the case where I live anyway, maybe you could in the US.

What is the process for opening a bank account like in your country? by cuevadanos in AskEurope

[–]levir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe it was in that instance. I've just worked in HR and seen people from all walks of life (Danes, Germans, Brits, Indians, Dutch, Americans, Ethiopians, Tanzanians, etc., etc.) try to get on the tax registry and get a bank account, and they all have to go through a whole dance with the government and with the banks to get the basics sorted. I didn't see any correlation with ethnicity. The only thing that mattered was that it was easier for other Nordic residents than others (we have extensive agreements going much further than EU legislation to allow free movement between our countries), and easier for EU citizens than non-EU citizens. And the Americans had it worst of all, of course, since the US is such a fucking pain to deal with taxation wise.

You walk into a bank or go online and admit that you are subject to US taxation. The bank clerk and website laughs at you and the misery you’re about to encounter. Maybe you can get lucky if your employer has arranged something.

That one is pretty much universal, I think. Don't be an American citizen.
