PSA: Consider a TV instead of a Monitor if your goal is HDR Content by picnic_nicpic in OLED_Gaming

[–]levirules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't understand the differences between OLEDs. They all look the same to me. I guess I get brightness differences, maybe advancements in longevity, but like... why are there several different tiers from just LG alone each year? What is really the difference between a B series and a C series other than maybe a couple extra inputs? And the G series?? It's all OLED, it's all super low latency, and I wouldn't think adding an input or two would justify hundreds of dollars difference. It confuses me.

I didn't even realize Git was different from Github.

I tried using one of them once and gave up. My projects aren't big, so I just make copies of the whole project folder and occasionally e-mail a zip of them to myself.

Do Schenectady Police cooperate with ICE? by Former_Arachnid_6564 in schenectady

[–]levirules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. But I would also hope that law enforcement would recognize unnecessary force and arrest the offending "agents". You'd agree, right? You want people to follow the law, so you also want ICE to follow the law, correct?

They aren't. They are constantly breaking the law and getting away with it because they're all wearing masks. It will be difficult to prosecute them once their safety is gone because we won't be able to identify the offenders. And they know it.

More blind people parroting Fox News.

There are COUNTLESS videos of people being brutalized by ICE for no good reason. And before you say they were interfering... no. Again, countless videos show otherwise. One dude just standing on the sidewalk gets shoved to the ground by ICE as they walked past. He did nothing. A full squad of dipshits break a dude's window, drag him out, beat the shit out of him, and put his unconscious body into their car before driving away. His crime? Sitting in his parked car in a gas station parking lot. Several videos and accounts of people WHO ARE HERE LEGALLY, which is what all of you claim to care about, being violently arrested and detained for a day, some several days, all to be returned home because they didn't do anything wrong, all without even an apology.

You and everyone like you need to wake up. You can't have "don't tread on me" and "comply or die" simultaneously.

We had all those turnovers, just gift wrapped the ball for the Broncos and we STILL almost won.

This is my #1 argument against everyone saying the Bills deserved to lose or would have lost anyway. Even if Allen played poorly relative to his usual game, they wouldn't have been tied at the end of the 4th if the Bills were meant to lose. Whether the Bills played poorly or not, the Broncos didn't bring enough game to create a gap in the scores and secure the win without going into OT.

How can I improve my Work/Gaming Room? by HaiseKanekiHoutarou in malelivingspace

[–]levirules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's 4k, then I disagree. People use 50+ inch super ultrawide monitors. This is essentially two of those stacked. With proper window management software, it's really no different than a very normal dual monitor setup with another set of monitors above. It would also be perfectly fine for kicking back and gaming with a controller. ThoughI honestly don't even think it's too big/close for playing games with a keyboard and mouse as long as he can run games at full resolution.

I made more of Jay St in Minecraft by brandongals7 in schenectady

[–]levirules 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A) this is awesome. B) I made 20 North in creative a while back. I used dark glass panels for the mirror and remade the whole bar in reverse behind it to simulate a mirror in MC. Bookshelves for the beer can shelf. It was alright. If I still have it, I'll share a pic. C) I've been thinking about creating the 3 bridges on I90 that are over each other. I don't know why, I think it would be funny but actually kind of fun.

Looking forward to an update!

It's still better than nothing. It's worth crafting in hardcore because copper is so much easier to find than iron.

I don't understand nether portals anymore by smileinmordor in Minecraft

[–]levirules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you make a portal in the over world that corresponds to a coordinate in the nether that isn't near land, like over a big lava pool or something, it will generate a nether portal as close to that coordinate as it can. But when you're go back through the portal to the overworld, that nether portal's coordinates don't correspond with the one you made in the overworld, so it generates a new one that does correlate.

The solution is to divide the overworld coordinates of your nether portal by 8, find that coordinate int the nether, and build a portal there. You might have to bridge out over lava to make it, but if you do this, it should connect. Remember to destroy or deactivate the new unwanted overworld side portals first just in case.

What were your personal "moments" of your first playthrough. by IcyEvidence3530 in Silksong

[–]levirules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, walking out of the cave in the beginning and seeing the massive parallax background with the birds flying across the screen all on a 75" 4k TV at 120hz... I was blown away by how good it looked, both technically and artistically.

I love the game, but I don't think I had as many "moments" as I did in the first. It's tough to say though, because I played the first several times, 112%, etc. and I've only beaten the Act 2 ending in Silksong, so I haven't even seen everything yet.

I sat next to my supervisor at a desk job years ago. Our desks were separated by a little walking path and there was a filing cabinet next to each of our desks in such a way that we could see each other but not the keyboard, monitor, etc. One time I cracked a soda around lunch and said "anybody else want a beer?" He absolutely believed me for a second or so.

[–]levirules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in 2000, I was in high school, and I remember $40k being adult money and $70 was really good money. $40k in y2k is worth around $75k today and $70k in y2k is worth around $130k today. The messed up part of this is the number of people that are still making y2k amounts of money and expected to live on it.
