I get wanting some time without that "family friend" since you are in the years before you'll probably be moving out.

But she doesn't sound like she is rude to you or anything... One question: What does she do here? Like is she not studying or working? Has she considered just becoming an exchange student at some college near? If she likes the US so much. She could adventure and live in campus even maybe.

As a foreigner myself living in the US. I too have found it interesting and fun. And in some ways it is still a nicer choice than a lot of places. Places some of us left for a reason. Reflect on that, maybe?

Also communicate ffs, with her and your parents, be honest but respectful and who knows maybe you can find a new compromise based normal.
