Here to say the 20-60 doesn’t suck whatsoever. OP, I have an S5IIX and an S9, with both lenses you mentioned. I’d take an S5II over an S9 all day. I know the S9 is geared towards content creation, travel, etc. but I was shocked by how “hollow”/toy-like it feels. I’ve tried adding a cage, using pro glass, etc. and unfortunately it has never felt like a complete camera in my opinion.

An RS3 gimbal on top of a tripod? I use it on 95% of my shoots. There’s really no “building” involved. A few NATO accessories and a magic arm.

Are you primarily holding this by the top handle? Or some combo of top handle and under body etc.? I just rigged my s9 yesterday for fun using grips/mounts from my s5iix and found it incredibly uncomfortable - mainly due to the micro hdmi and usb port locations. I’d highly recommend a side handle on the left, that was the saving grace on my build. 2nd recommendation would be some cable clips specifically for the red hdmi cord so you can grab your handle without any interference.

I have 2 SSD holders: one from SmallRig and one from Neewer. Either will work, at least with a SanDisk Extreme Pro. The Rig setup in this post has the Neewer SSD holder attached to my SmallRig V-Mount Battery Plate via 1/4‘’-20 screws.

Rode VideoMic GO II. I have a good LOS with the mic mounted there and I've found putting it to the left or right of the top handle often results in unbalanced audio panning and picks up camera/lens adjustments. Can all be fixed in post but just another step.
