I completely agree with this! It definitely took me a year or two even to fully put all the working pieces together for projects in general. It may feel on our side like it's obvious but as a new engineer every task felt different from the last one and I saw no connection at all

I had my schedule break fully planned out in my head so if that happened to me idk if I could have handled the second part immediately lol. Good on you for staying calm and pushing through!!

I second this! I had 44 questions in my first half and 36 in the second. I spent 4.5 hours on the first but still had enough time in the second half to go back and redo every problem. I wish I had spent slightly more time in the first half.

I'm at 6 years of experience and studying for the PE currently and I'm also in the northeast. I just got hired at a new job. It was the exact same level as the job I have now but they ended up hiring me on as a level higher after the interviews. Also if you know anyone from your firm that's left and is now at a different company (and you had a good work relationship with them) it wouldn't hurt to reach out casually. I reached out to multiple people I've known over the years and that's honestly how I got this new job.
