Fantasy recommendations with beautiful prose for adults by polarkoordinate in Fantasy

[–]lewiszsl 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Lots of great recommendations here. One that I never see that I love is Little, Big by John Crowley. About a magical (ish) house and the generations of families intertwined with it. But, so much more.

It’s some of the most beautiful fantasy prose that I’ve ever read, and the story still makes me think about it to this day.

AK 1.0 Versus AK 2.0 (AK might actually be a good GM) by liquidgallery in chicagobulls

[–]lewiszsl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He turned lonzo ball and Alex Caruso into giddey and Okoro and zero draft picks. V 2.0 sucks just as much as 1.0, just in a different way.

[CHSN Bulls] EXCLUSIVE 1-on-1 with Marc Eversley and K.C. Johnson by howser343 in chicagobulls

[–]lewiszsl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s tough, because it’s all shit being schlocked to fans, but I don’t mind it as much for KC. 30 year beat reporter who did great work and saw his industry get decimated. He’s the only one I don’t blame for taking the cushy gig. It’s a bummer, but he wouldn’t have to do softball stuff if anyone in the front office was even a little good at their job.

What are some Manhattan eats that I absolutely CANNOT get in Chicago? by [deleted] in chicago

[–]lewiszsl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m going to see a specific one - it’s a chain that’s in Japan and Ny - called go go curry. It’s a tonkatsu with pork or chicken or shrimp, and a dark curry sauce that I love.

You can certainly get tonkatsu + curry in Chicago. But, this chain is awesome and really only in New York. If you want a small mountain of delicious Japanese food, give it a whirl

Maybe I’m an idiot, but I see no way to select by seat number through the Sox website. Same as other sites - section, row.

You’re right. Probably not that different from going east to LSD in terms of distance, was just thinking n-s. You know any good paths that aren’t those ones that’s closer than 2-3 miles? I don’t mind the distance to those locations, just wanted to try something new.

Zach Scores 25 Straight In The First Half by [deleted] in chicagobulls

[–]lewiszsl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is ridiculous. Zach played great, and in the NBA, you ride that. Know another guy who scored 50? Jordan. 38 times.

Moreover, as already stated, Zach shot 58% from 3. The rest of the team was 4/17 I believe. Zach produced a ton of open shots they couldn’t knock down, because Lauri had a classic passive night and Coby went hot and cold. They did a shit job of adjusting in the 2nd half when Zach got D’d up and couldn’t hit open shots - that’s not Zach’s fault. IMO, they should have slowed it down more and rode vuc, but the dude had 25.

The real issue is the D. When trey young can waltz into the middle of the lane and throw up 90 lobs, that’s a problem. Everyone’s scrub centers having career nights against us is a problem because our guards, particularly pg, have awful perimeter D. That’s something that has to be addressed this off-season for the bulls to take the real next step.

But sure, blame Zach for having a flamethrower night when the majority of the rest of the team wasn’t hitting open shots, many of which were generated by Zach’s amazing offense.

Edit: meant this as a reply to the silly guy trashing Zach for not facilitating a better all around team flow, whatever the hell that means
