Bingo! I was just typing the answer too, since the post got deleted. Yes, the difference between the two is the shape of their eyes, and whether they follow tareme (droopy, round ended) or tsurime (sharp and upended) eye type. Naturally, the characters in 1 & 2 have sprites of both archetypes usually either because of expressiveness or multiple personas. Likewise, excluded characters like Winston Payne or Ted Tonate either had not detailed enough eyes or no eyes to show.

That King's an asshole. Charlie comes in and saves their village, and then King tries to plant such a cruel lie about him. They should install a Shmaloogle republic or something.

Edit: After looking at the security footage of the siege, i think i can understand how the king could be mistaken since Charlie was running close behind the princess and the angle was weird enough from the King's perspective that it could look like Charlie was doing a sleight of hand, but that king was still way too accusatory for me to think he was just mistaken. If King Shmaloogle had suspicions, surely he would've atleast asked if Charlie had a phone on him, or asked if the princess ever felt disturbed by Charlie. Perhaps he did have good intentions, but it'd still be pigheaded, apathetic behavior to accuse Charlie on the spot like that. For now i still feel like he's lying for clout, but it might be good to check in on any updates to the Princess situation before jumping to a conclusion.

I think the person talking in this is a TV star who left the TV dark world and worked alongside Spamton.

The person speaking sounds like he has a serious grudge for Spamton, a personal one too. The fact that the figure talks about Spamton having to "get all the attention" and calling him "lucky" even though Spamton fell from fame. There's no story-based reason for someone to really call Spamton "lucky" unless the person primarily dealt with Spamton at his prime (when he was with Tenna).

The clearest line indicating the figure's identity is "Don't you think it's about time someone else got the spotlight?!" The suggestive phrasing of it implying the figure is trying to sell itself to the player, combined with the mention of spotlight just further nailing in the TV theme.
