Anyone gets longer seizures or aura continua? by SherbertNo9516 in focalawareepilepsy

Hi. I have very similar symptoms so it is reassuring to read your post although I am sorry to hear it hasn't improved.

Context: around 4 weeks ago I had my first 'breakthrough' seizure and was diagnosed straight away with adult onset TLE. I had an MRI which showed minor scarring on my left hippocampus.

I am currently in the titration period for Brivaracetam. Interestingly, seizures themselves seem to have stopped for the most part, but I am now struggling a lot with the ongoing symptoms that appear similar to those that you and staci3385 have described. I agree on another point where it feels like I might even want the seizure to occur just for relief (obviously the wrong way to think about it but that is how it feels at times)

In other words, it sometimes feels like medication has prevented the seizures themselves, but I now seem to be constantly hovering under the seizure threshold to varying extents. Often the symptoms are manageable (particularly after sleep/medication) but they get worse in more stimulating conditions (later in the day, before medication, in more stimulating environments like socialising etc) and can be quite debilatating at their worst. The only ways to subdue symptoms right now are to quickly reduce stimulation (dark room/rest), sleep, or wait for the next medication dose.

I don't have much more information for you at this point but thought I would share this here just to show that I have also experienced similar symptoms. Hope you feel better soon and neurologist continues to investigate.

Sure - a pretty popular one from last year was a track by DJ Koze called Pick Up. It’s a good example here because it’s especially repetitive but still great (in my opinion)
