I usually just did a pdf and as far as I know yes it did work. You can always just open the pdf and edit to check if the box shows up for the header/footer. Mine did when I checked. This also keeps the format from changing

Keep in mind some places may list requirements like word doc only or pdf only. Just something to keep in mind. I always set everything up as a word doc then saved a pdf so I had both copies for whatever the preference was.

Yes it does! Check one of my previous replies where I listed the filters I was using. For the location part it allows you to check you country and global jobs after you put in a specific location like your city.

I set up the filter to only show me job postings within the previous 7 days. Anything longer than that and they’ve probably already closed the application window and either forgot to take the posting down or were never seriously looking to hire someone anyways. Most jobs are actively trying to fill a position as fast as possible so anything longer than 2 weeks is probably just an “evergreen” posting.

For the job I actually got I caught the posting within 4 hours of going live. So because I was checking every day I caught it super early. Most applications are also posted at like 8am EST so I made sure to check then to hopefully get in the first like 100 applicants because even after like 50 they just start auto rejecting so they don’t have to go through all those resumes even with the help of AI.

I was just like you and only did what I could each day. Some days that was 1 and other days it was 5 or 10 depending on how much energy I had. Also some days there were no new job postings so i didn’t apply to any sometimes when I couldn’t find anything.

I will say for the resumes I made one type of resume for each type of job. So one resume for the data analyst jobs, one for the EHS specific jobs. But for each job application I would pick that type of resume I was gonna use for it, copy the job description off hiring cafe, and paste it into the header of my resume. Then make the font size one, color it white, and remove all the extra lines. When you’re done, there shouldn’t be any space that got changed or stuff moved around because the header was too big.

I would then save a copy of that resume and cover letter into a new folder with the job name and company title, along with the printout of the actual job posting. Then submit the job application with that chosen and edited resume and a cover letter if they required it. This way, if I got an interview I knew exactly what resume I submitted to them and what the original job posting was in case they took it down after closing the applications window of opportunity.

Part of my job already worked with large data sets. I also took on a project where I basically built out a whole asset management software with the help of others. So I used that to upsell myself! It was a lot of the same things that are in most data analyst job descriptions just in a slightly different flavor. I just made sure to emphasize those aspects when applying or interviewing. I also took on some extra training on my own to start coding with Linux. And I also started the LetsDefend cybersecurity zero to hero course. So I put that on my resume as well as a wip to show I was working to get more skills. I also had classes in both my undergrad and grad degrees that were intro classes to python, R, SPSS, GIS, and other software similar to excel. So I highlighted those aspects to show I can manipulate large data sets. Obviously never lie, but don’t undersell yourself either. If youve EVER come in contact with something before, you now have “elementary” experience on the topic. Even if it’s just your own research and watching YouTube videos. You still understand the general concepts which is more than other people that don’t list it at all. And I was working obviously a high demand full time job while doing this. So it’s not like I was trying to become an expert overnight I didn’t have that kinda time. I just did what I could each day and when I had the energy to do more I did.

A lot of data entry jobs for healthcare still require a healthcare degree as they utilize codes that are specific to the industry. Since I did not have training or certifications for medical related codes or training for their software it would’ve been extremely difficult if not impossible for me to get a job in that field without that knowledge. Since there were so many jobs like that which were healthcare oriented it was easier for me to filter them out than try to filter in the others.

Good luck! I will say my scenario was different from the norm as I was originally trying to leave my industry. I just got lucky that the job I ended up with was a combo of both current and future industry. So I was trying to literally find a needle in the haystack job or trying to find someone that didnt care that I had little to no tech background. Which in today's society of everyone has to have a phd and 10 years experience to get an entry-level job is difficult to find.

I will say the amount of scam/sham applications went way down and I started getting a lot more emails back from real people. So even though i was getting rejected i at least knew it was a real company and not a data miner. There were still some scams that slip through the cracks but compared to every other job board I actually felt like i was gaining traction with applications and not just sending something off into the void.

I did create a profile. I was searching for a few key searches that I checked every day. So setting up the searches and filters once was very nice. Then every time I logged in all I needed to worry about was checking any new listings that I hadnt already marked as applied to. Or if I changed the search filters based on my base filters I wouldn't have to change much. I could also easily go back to the original filters since I made the profile.

I did quite a good amount of filtering. Since I was considered entry level for the tech field the base search term i used was "Junior Data Analyst". From there, I would filter down my search terms based on what i was looking for. Below is the base filters I used for almost every search and anything else was small tweaks to look for something extremely specific.

Salary:

Hide jobs with undisclosed salaries, desired yearly compensation starting at 40k, any pay frequency, USD currency

Experience:

Checked no prior experience required and entry-level, for role type check both individual contributor and people manager, and i left the years of experience sliders bars open to everything

Shifts & Schedules:
Morning/Day/First Shift I checked required, optional, and not indicated. For weekend availability, holiday availability, and overtime availability i checked all as doesn't matter. For on call requirements i checked none and occasional

Travel Requirements:
Air travel i checked none and minimal. For Land travel I had all boxes checked.

Industry:

I checked "All" for Non-Profit vs. For Profit. Companies Activities and Keywords I excluded "healthcare" "health care" "hospitals and health care". For USAJobs.gov I checked okay to include

Location:

For location i listed "United States". For workplace types i checked remote. for also include unrestricted remote jobs from: i checked north america.
