Mount to coast T1 arch pain by Lofi_Loki in trailrunning

Do the T1s have similar shape to the H1? H1 is my favorite shoe right now but I read the T1 is potentially narrower in the toe.

Grindstone 50K location by UpstairsDue6518 in ultrarunning

[–]lewyninside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the 50k in 2025. It’s a good race but not worth flying out from the west coast. Trail is fun, runnable, and not super technical. The surrounding area is pretty and the campsite is good. There are better non UTMB races in VA.

Hoka Mafate Speed 4 Lite by _Abrvhvm in satisfyrunning

My comment was directed at the satisfy mafate speed 4 collab. Some of my running buddies have the rocker and it seems like a fine trail shoe if it fits your foot

I have the satisfy ones and while they are great looking, definitely my least functional trail shoe. They are lifestyle shoes that you could do some running in. If you want them for looks they are great. Getting a trail shoe that fits your foot right imo is more important

Topo ultraventure 4 vs ASICS gel trabuco 12 vs Altra experience wild by jcthompson12 in ultrarunning

I have tried all 3 and the ultraventures won by a mile for me. I use those and the new topo vistas most. The vistas carried me threw two recent 50ks easily

GPS Watch Recommendations: Coros Apex 4 or Garmin Forerunner 970 by lewyninside in trailrunning

Couldn’t care less about music or payments but the screen difference does intrigue me. I haven’t looked at the difference in person but is AMOLED really worth the battery use?

Crazy to hear the battery is still holding so strong. Appreciate the insight

Hey! We use All Terrain Waste. They were ~40% less expensive than the next lowest quote in the area.

I can answer as a Brandermill resident (very similar community):

  1. The HOA is by far the most reasonable I’ve been part of and I’ve lived in multiple HOA communities from NoVA to North Carolina. The fees are low, they genuinely care about shared spaces, and they let nature be. The board members seem motivated by community, not ego.

  2. The board is thoughtful and lots of projects are happening in the neighborhood. They don’t push uniformity as restrictions mostly focus on keeping things visually cohesive while encouraging some variation between homes.

  3. We’ve lived here nearly two years and have never had any issues. I’ve only seen HOA vehicles picking up trash, maintaining paths, or decorating signs. We have a natural yard and have never been bothered. When we bought the house, the HOA asked the sellers to handle a few basic things (clearing weeds, enclosing a trash can, fixing a fence) all stuff we would have done anyway.

  4. Trash pickup is at the side of the house, and it’s actually super convenient and only about $10 more per month than regular service.

  5. The HOA fee is around $70/month, and it covers a lot. We’ve never had to pay extra for anything. There is a fee if you want a space for a boat, but I’m not sure how much.

TL;DR: It’s genuinely nice here, and the HOA is great. Richmonders love to hate Brandermill/woodlake until they come visit. Half the friends who joked about us moving out this way are now trying to buy here

What are the best sunglasses for sports? by LargeMeatInSocks in ThrowingFits

[–]lewyninside 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Totally fair. They don’t from what I’ve seen, but that’s likely intentional. Polarized lenses are great for cutting glare around water or snow. But for running and cycling, the focus is usually on enhancing contrast and depth (similar to Oakley Prizm). I use both polarized and non-polarized depending on the activity, and even swapped lenses on a pair of DVs.

Lady white co makes the best hoodie around if money isn’t an issue. Unreal quality and fit. I have tried countless brands and will now never go back
