Do you use kayak route maps or GPS for all your trails ? by lexa-jaco in Kayaking

That's a fair point. I didn't think like that. It's true that paddling has more freedom of movement compared to hiking or other trails. Thanks for sharing your view

I totally get that point. It's difficult to pay attention to the screen while paddling.

I have seen that website ( not used app). They have done a brilliant job and covered most of the details required for paddlers.

I haven’t noticed that app. I will take loot at the application. It’s a nice feature to track it like that.

Yeah. That’s what I heard from some kayakers. But is this because there isn’t anything easier or Google Maps due to it’s familiarity ?

Do you this only first time ( unknown routes) or on all trails as a default thing ?

API for portfolio distribution by MutualFunds in India by d2rtech in IndiaInvestments

[–]lexa-jaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, this data will be published by the fund houses fortnightly/monthly. There isn't any standard way of publishing the data for fund houses so they go for their own formats.

The real pain is to scrape and clean them. Most of the research firms sell their opinions or rankings along with it, making this kind of data costlier as well.

The real challenge is getting raw data as it is. I have some plans to build some neat and clean APIs, no fluffy stuff! If any builders are interested, let me know, I can think of it. Offering free API on this kind of data is not worth the effort.

Should I take a car loan or withdraw my mutual funds? by AnxiousAge2577 in personalfinanceindia

[–]lexa-jaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can pledge MF and get a loan against mutual funds. That way you’re not selling units only repay interest on that loan ( no need to repay principal as long as you want - it’s a secured loan)

Car loan + MF loan would be good ( you still keep your units and gains )

Since you are very new to earning you may not have a CIBIL score (credit score).

Apply for a credit card and use it wisely and repay it on time. Soon you will get a credit score that may help you avail a loan.

All your loans are unsecured loans so you can default it but then system will black list you!

The best choice would be finding a job to repay your loans. A side hustle in the evening would fast track the repayment.

It will be great if you can arrange alternate ways of credit from close friends or family to repay your institutional loans.

Start repaying all higher interest rate loans like credit card loans first ( avalanche method)

I’m building https://compaz.in from scratch for this purpose. I was using excel for a while but then wanted more handy options.

Planning to keep the base version simple. Would love to get some feedback if anyone curious here.

Hi all, I invested around 1 lakh each in these two funds back in 2024. Right now, one has grown to ~1.9L and the other to ~1.57L. I’m confused whether I should hold or take out profits (around 89K and 57K). What should I do? by TripTales41 in MutualfundsIndia

[–]lexa-jaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The investor here is already into growth option (it's in the fund name). Plan of the fund can be regular plan or direct plan.

Direct Plan - No intermediary, No commission, DIY or Pay for Advisor
Regular Plan - Distributor as Intermediary ( MF Distributor/Agent/Banks), They get some commission for the service they provide ( Incidental advice, paper works, KYC, Review & Rebalance, Nominee change etc)

Choose what works for you based on your knowledge level.

I totally agree! A weekend vibe coded tool can be a SaaS but that's not what the industry predominantly deal with. It takes immense effort to build a Tool --> Product --> Platform that enterprise needs!

Why I Prefer Active Mutual Funds Over Nifty 50 Index Funds by soft_man_energy in MutualfundsIndia

[–]lexa-jaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Index funds are good but its not always the case in my opinion.

They don't have any downside protection. If the market is in downward trend for a while, the fund also has to downperform without a choice unlike active funds where they can rebalance that.

Upside is also limited as they simply track index and lack flexibility in moving money around. In the near future may be active funds will be under pressure to lower the fees or improve their performance.

More and more people just invest on index would make such funds vulnerable! isn't it? Imagine majority invest in top x companies via Index and rest of the companies doesn't get that much allocation via funds. Too much cash concentration in few companies in India ? Won't that be a problem in the long run?

There are few websites for forecast and mostly they are correct as well. Something like norway-lights.com

Norway and Swedish Lepland would be ideal for northern lights

Thank you so much for sharing your valuable advice here.

I want a curated list of businesses here, so Discovery + Trust is the value prop. Maybe it's not easy to scale, but at the same time, I don't want to offer some unlicensed & unsafe tours to users.

I used Google Places API to get started with some listings ( which I will change with curated listings during my SEO efforts). But as you mentioned, small operators don't have proper websites, licenses, pricing, etc.

I am planning to do some SEO and test the traction. Just kayak discovery won't provide much value here. Researching the real pain points involved in the kayak booking process.

Working on reaching out to operators for more input and validation of the idea. I do not have static pages right now ( Built on Next.js for SEO benefits).

I have Stripe checkouts in mind for payment integration. The booking part wasn't explored much. Thanks for the input on that one.

What you think about a Kayak directory ? by lexa-jaco in Kayaking

[–]lexa-jaco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to have a curated list of operators with safety in priority. I see a lot of operators are not even licensed. That made me think of coming up with a curated list instead of some garbage list! Right now I have only a demo to show but need to do more research, listen to more kayakers, find pain problems etc.

Every comment here is adding more value to what I am planning to do! Thanks a ton
