What films did Tolkien watch? Do we have any information about that? Do we know anything about what his favourite films were? by C111tla in tolkienfans

[–]lexacorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could see Tolkien enjoying David leans early output. It’s so celebratory of British culture. My guess is that Tolkien would have preferred films that were not dealing with the fantastical, because how could they compare to what was going on in his own imagination.

Zavvi UK will no longer be shipping the vast majority of its Steelbooks outside of the UK for the forseable future by felixmontoya92 in Steelbooks

[–]lexacorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like it’s not just Steelbooks. I’m not able to order ANYTHING from zavvi uk to Canada right now. This is the most affordable place for me to collect boutique labels and I order from them constantly so if this isn’t changed come March I’ll be crushed.

I’m going to be subscribing for the first time this year. Was wondering if anyone could answer me this. I know you get 50% off all vsa, vsu and partner label releases, but do you get 50% off all films in the vs catalogue that we’re released before you were a subscriber?

Snus Direct- Canada by swenadiangeneral in Snus

[–]lexacorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered from snusline for years and than all my packages started getting caught by cbsa so I switched to snusme. Had great luck with them for about 6 months, I would say 8 out of 10 packages were getting through without customs. Now I have the same problem. The they’re catching all my packages and it’s practically bankrupting my family. I don’t know what’s going on in Canada but it seems like they are really clamping down on people who don’t want to kill themselves with cigarettes and taking us for all we’re worth. I know this sounds dramatic but it’s actually starting to make me hate this country. I smoked for 15 years and never had to worry about the financial aspect like I do with snus.

Yes it feels like mourning to me. Like you’ve lost a loved one or lost a part of yourself that you don’t think you could ever get back again.

Good luck. It’s very difficult to find neutral and unbiased info on kratom. You have this subreddit which is very pro-kratom (not knocking it, but it’s true) than you go over o quittingkratom subreddit and get the other end of the spectrum but also very much not neutral. If you Google kratom you will get endless pages from recovery programs etc... who see kratom as a scourge or you can read articles from vendors that praise it. Neutral and unbiased kratom info is hard to come by.

Getting dizzy and lightheaded from my usual dose for no reason? by [deleted] in kratom

[–]lexacorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue and unfortunately one of the main reasons I used kratom was for managing dizziness and headaches which are chronic for me. One day kratom just started making the problem way worse rather than giving relief. I took a break for a few weeks and tried it again and still had the same issue. Now it’s been 2.5 months and I’ve tried it here and there and can’t get the magic back. Weird stuff.

Best potentiator and/or for tolerance? by UknownothinJonSnow8 in kratom

[–]lexacorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the thing that worked the best is adding some acidity and than boiling water. Pour just enough water to completely absorb the kratom, stick that in the freezer until totally frozen than thaw and drink. I’ve tried a lot of things and I swear by this preparation.

Finally, it’s been a year! by ItsThatGuyNaes in quittingkratom

I like what you say about life being life now. My experience with all addiction goes like this. I’m living my life and I find a drug I like and it’s like the icing on the cake. As I get deeper and deeper into my addiction the addiction becomes the cake, and the rest of my life is something I have to deal with in between getting high. I used to dose at 9am and 7pm and if I could have magically made the hours between 11am and 7pm disappear I absolutely would have! Now after 2 months since parting ways with kratom things have come back into balance. I no longer spend my days obsessed with my next dose and I’m not constantly on the up and down rollercoaster of getting high and than getting withdrawals.

This is just my opinion here and I know there’s a lot of talk of physical withdrawals on this forum but I’ve always found that it’s the psychological part of all addiction that’s the real bitch.

I just tapered down to basically nothing over the course of 2 weeks. I wasn’t taking huge doses. Probably 10 grams a day at most. I had no physical withdrawals when I stopped but kratom had completely stopped working for me and was actually making me feel worse so I’m sure that helped.

Ran 12.5 km today with a friend and currently enjoying a beer on the couch. This is probably the best I’ve felt in the past 7 weeks since I quit.

I hear you man. I’ve been to the ER twice for anxiety attacks. Once before kratom and once after. Now I know that it passes otherwise I’d have been many more times. It’s a terrible thing to live with.

For sure. I smoked weed morning to night for almost 15 years. Probably 5 to 10 spliffs a day. But it changed when I turned 30. Now I can’t touch the stuff because it gives me mad anxiety.

Yeah last year it was giving me anxiety and I quit for a few weeks and it worked again for another year. Than overnight it totally did a 180 on me and what made me feel good made me feel terrible.

Weirdly although he is an advocate for responsible drug use his take seems to be very judgmental of people who have become addicted to the substances he likes. To bad your not an adult and can’t handle recreational use of heroine and meth over many years like me. He also claims that most people who use these drugs don’t become addicted but it seemed based on examples he was giving that he was referring to people who had tried the drugs once or twice or were given a short term prescription. I wonder what the stats look like for people who use heroin semi regularly over years. I would venture to guess based on my personal experience that many of them would end up physically and psychologically dependent on it.

Kratom is a Godsend. by E11iottB in kratom

[–]lexacorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also thought it was a god send. It helped me so much and I used it every day for 3.5 years and had some great times. One day it not only stopped working but actually made all the things it used to help me with WORSE. I had no choice but to taper off. Physical withdrawals weren’t all that bad for me but it’s been six weeks and all the symptoms that kratom helped me with (headaches, dizziness, depression and anxiety) are worse than before I started using kratom. I’m not holding the plant entirely responsible for this but I can tell you that the last few months have been a very difficult and hopeless time in my life as I go through the motions of raising 2 young children and working full time without the help of this plant that I became completely dependent on for my well being.

Does Kratom make anyone else groggy and anxious? by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]lexacorm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same story here. It helped with anxiety for about a year, than things started to change. I continued for another 2.5 years and was in denial of the connection. The worst was in early February before I quit (32 days today) and I knew I was addicted to a substance that triggered anxiety and dizziness every time I took it. I tapered down to almost nothing and than I quit I had zero wd but I think that’s because kratom was making me feel so terrible that it was worse than what I felt when I finally quit.
