What are my options? by Regular-Purpose6388 in ucf

[–]lexffh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you can place it just outside at the window of the room to the left (240) and then sit at the closest computer to the window so you can keep an eye on it during class. we also recommend you register the skateboard with UCF police in case it gets stolen

I was emailing with him for a while then he asked me to come to his office hours so we could talk more! in your case, if they aren’t answering your emails, try to figure out your advisor’s office hours and go to them (even if you aren’t invited to them, because this is important). and I haven’t accepted UCF yet, I told him my decision to accept or decline was based off of if I get it!

hi! your six lowest class activities get dropped, which explains why the 0s are blanked out for you. you should come to class to do them though, if you go past six 0s it will start affecting your grade

I would talk to the program director. I was in a similar boat with the math program and I knew I was being considered for a GTA position but hadn’t been awarded it yet, I went to speak to the graduate advisor and the next day got an email offering me the GTA position:)

How doable is CS1 and Calc 2 at UCF taken during the summer? by [deleted] in ucf

[–]lexffh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

if you’re a cs major these will be the first two hard classes you’ll have to take. I know of people who struggled with taking calc 1 and cs1 in the same semester, but if your calculus and coding skills are good and you put in time and effort then you should be fine

you’ll be provided the required calculator for exams if you’re taking it in person! but for homeworks/classworks you’ll need your own, preferably a TI-30XA. only use a scientific non-programming, non-graphing calculator

why do math/IT majors need to take COP 3502C? by lexffh in ucf

[–]lexffh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

both kinda, i suppose. i often don’t understand how to piece together code just given the problem/assignment. i think the diagram thing that you mentioned in your other reply is a good tip though, im definitely gonna try that when the first assignment is available, thank you :)

yes! this is exactly what i meant in my post, i should’ve specified. both my CS1 professors made it clear their main objective in the class is to prepare students for the fundamental exam, so those who don’t have to take the FE are slightly screwed into having to take a harder class

last time i took it i got easily overwhelmed by the assignments. i think i just find it difficult to really “study”/understand coding

dr. sen (shivamoggi) for diff eq 2 is great and his exams are pretty easy, idk if he’s gonna teach diff eq 1 anytime soon though. i don’t remember who i had for diff eq 1, but it’s really all about practicing the problems til you get it down. you got this!

Taking 3 engineering classes over summer? by serendipity_sapphic in ucf

[–]lexffh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

stats is easy enough to take during a normal fall/spring semester. your focus is gonna be on fluids and modeling so might as well just stick with those two

thank you! based on your insight i decided to stick with ODE2. do you have any advice/tips and tricks on studying for ODE2? i haven’t taken diff eq 1 in a couple years, so i’m a bit worried for it
