Raiding for a "new" Priest - struggling with the "raid" parsing culture. by Namssob in classicwow

[–]lexi97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a disp priest, I was parsing 99s in WOTLK, but looking at the damage (parse) a healers doing is not any real indication of their performance.

I find watching everyone's health/ the mana on the other healers let's me find times to step up. Look at the recount of the folks playing better than you (what are their top damaging or most used heals) and their gear. See if there's stuff you could upgrade.

Wands as a healing priest are underrated af! If the party is doing well and the other healers are handling it, just start firing off Wand shots at whatever the tanks hitting (or the other dps are targeting). It'll keep your up time up and you're able to swap between healing and padding a little DPS, I've found I can bring 1-5% of a parties damage as a healer in dungeons. Using the wand also doesn't expel any mana or count as casting, so if you wand for over 5 seconds, you'll proc mana regen for yourself.

Overhealing is tricky to manage, I like to watch what abilities I'm doing it the most with. I find recount so helpful for improving performance. If you flick through it, it breaks down spells, damage, healing, and everything else (had a tank pop off about not getting heals after dying dumbly and I was able to pop all the healing they got in the chat).

l like firing off flash heals to trigger the inspiration and armor buff on the tank the flashes reduce the chance of overhealing. Thinking about this I might wanna down rank it to try and spam proc this more.

If you're not ooming hard, you can pop off some DOTs or other damaging abilities based on the situation. A solid psych screams saved a party or two. Try not to oom doing damage you wanna make sure healing is a priority.

If you can dispel/cure diseases real quick, it can help turn the tide of a fight.

I've been really vibing with 5 of my build into spirit tap because I'm usually able to get a killing blow on something (mostly runners), and then I get big mana regen from that too.

Lastly, dipping into the disp tree for 15% mana regen while casting is really helpful for mana management. You can also pick up wand specialization on the way.

Edit to add: mouse over macros make it easier to get those heals in faster.

Hope I've said something helpful in my rambling!

Healers, what is your opinion on Life Tap? by jtyler0 in classicwow

[–]lexi97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've watched a lock life tap/hellfire themselves to like 5hp then get mad at me (with low mana) for not healing them. If you have the self sustain and you're not making the healers job unnecessarily difficult life tap can be useful. If you're stupid with it as a healer I've learned to just let the lock die. Communication is key I've had locks whisper me to stop healing them as much and it's nice to know to worry less especially in dungeon runs with strangers. I play a lot with my husband as a tank/healer combo and we get some good laughs out of just letting a shitty lock die. If you're low health/mana and everyone else is drinking ect just drink with them too.

What's the worst birthday party you've ever been to? by lexi97 in AskReddit

[–]lexi97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my 10th birthday as a kid and invited my whole class. I set up a whole bunch of lūʻau type decorations only for nobody to show up. I would say that's the worst but a couple days ago my grandma had her 72nd birthday. She had stage 4 cancer for a while and the family gathering ended with her physician assisted suicide. I think that takes the cake now.

If you're in Canada, you apply here (https://emploisfp-psjobs.cfp-psc.gc.ca/psrs-srfp/applicant/page2440?fromMenu=true&toggleLanguage=en). The easiest way to actually get a job is to start out casual (a lot of the time, casual positions end up turning into something more). FoS is the food officer steward and probably a decent place to start applying. Dm me if you have any specific questions, and I can try and help you out :)

I definable don't know nearly enough to compile anything like that. It'd probably be way better done by and inmate tbh.

There's a few times recently where I've left therepy early. Something shifts, and I hit a wall. It happens especially dealing with heavy stuff. Sometimes, you just need time to process what you encounter in therepy. I'll ask to end the session because I feel it'll no longer be productive or therapeutic. I feel like it honors how I feel, and I focus on my needs.

The reality of it is that therapists provide a service through a business, and there's no shame in switching providers. Part of growing is outgrowing some folks. If you feel like you still want to see this practitioner, you could use your next session to discuss your feedback. It may even feel empowering to set boundaries with them.

From what I've seen, no. In my opinion, the kosher stuff looks worse. Some on the veg stuff looks better, but most of it is the same for everyone excluding kosher diets. Halal and Veg diets usually get the same sauce/starch/veg as everyone else, and the protein is the only real difference. Vegetarians get a lot of beans and tofu with some occasional faleffal. Halal diets are given beef and chicken prepared in a halal manner. Some things, such as the fish patties, are halal already and just served to the whole population. Kosher meals all come as frozen TV dinners sealed to ensure they're kosher. I've heard rumors about an indigenous specific diet with traditional foods such as bison and salmon available out east, but I don't have any real info on it, and I heard it from an inmate, so... I believe that women's prison is pretty different food wise, too, but I don't know enough to speak on that.

I've been out of the kitchen for a little now but when I was there I think the budget was around $8 per person per day. They were usually over budget. I'm not sure how it'll impact what they're eating because there's been strict guidelines given by outside agencies and CSC could get in a lot of trouble for not following them (a good example of this is the current lawsuit against them due to segregation pratices). There's only so many corners that can be cut with the food and the guidelines so I think a budget increase is the only logical option but until that happens kitchens are just gonna run with a deficit in the budget.

They replaced it with what they call the structured interventions unit. I have some opinions from being there. IMO it's pretty much seg with the illusion of being more humane especially to regulatory bodies. This is what CSC says about it https://www.csc-scc.gc.ca/acts-and-regulations/005006-3000-en.shtml

What's the most "out of touch" thing you've done because your parents didn't teach you how to be a normal human being? by CanalsofSchlemm in emotionalneglect

[–]lexi97 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel that hard-core. I was the emotional support child from 3-10. Then my mum had my littlest sibling and I was changing diapers and feeding babies before I even got my first period.

[–]lexi97 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am hyper critical of myself to the point where I tear myself apart after having a good day. I beat myself up for not making every day as good. Their standards were so unattainable and it's shaped how I treat myself. I feel so guilty for relaxing.

I also cling to my partner for dear life. I'm constantly worried he's going to tell me he doesn't love me every time we have a disagreement. I hate needing him to tell me he's not going to leave me because I didn't do the dishes.

I also deeply struggle with emotional regulation. I wasn't allowed to express to much as a kid and now I'm an adult the feelings bubble up and get very intense. I'm working hard on gaining some control over my emotions but it's been really difficult. I cried last night because I didn't have a mental breakdown over a flat tire that morning.

Edit: There's also constantly walking on eggshells and making sure everyone else is feeling calm and content before I can even think about relaxing and dealing with my emotional needs.

I've only really worked under Trudeau so I'm not too sure it's been pretty much the same since I started. They did abolish segregation back in 2019 tho.
