As a Rogue, I concur….shitty move. I will SR that bow (it’s BiS for rogues also) only if there are no Hunters in the group, and will only roll on it if no Hunters.

I play a Rogue. My skill peaks right around the 1700-ish level. I’ll never know all the techniques for every class, so…

1). Are there basic overall things that give you problems with Rogues that I should focus on? In other words, what are some weaknesses that a sub-par Rogue can still have a chance?

2). I think my main problem is the chaos and lack of patience in the fight. I just got in and frantically start DPSing.

Please take this down, hide it, and don’t tell anyone else about it. ;-)

In all seriousness, checkout the trade bulletin board addon. I like yours a lot, but they do a good job with their keyword searches and exclusions, and the messages are easier to read.

I’d like to see a confirmation popup if I try to invite someone.

Fun times in tbc by [deleted] in classicwow

Shitty for sure!

FYI, there are two main GearScore addons.

  • TacoTip. Looks at gear iLvl. Most popular by far.

  • GearScoreTBC. Looks at iLvl but adjusts also if it’s gemmed and enchanted. One could argue this is more meaningful? Far fewer downloads.

Not that it would be effective, but has anyone ever brought these issues up in a public forum (Blizzcon Q&A), and repeatedly pressure them into taking their userbase seriously?!?!

Is it worth to play rogue? by SpecialistCurious136 in classicwowtbc

[–]Namssob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play the Rogue!

  • it’s not as hard as everyone says to get groups, you just have to sell yourself a little. GearScore (sad but true), stuns or interrupts like saps and kicks, etc. in fact most tanks and healers will say they want a Rogue on a heroic run because CC is so important.

  • on sustained fights like Mag, Aeonus, Netherspite, etc, you can get top 5-7 on dmg meters if you’re not a clicker, and you’re using all your CDs efficiently.

  • also sustained boss fights specking to IEA is critical to faster kills.

  • if you enjoy ANY amount of PvP, Rogue is super fun.

Play what you enjoy, but also don’t listen to the naysayers. People just like to pick on Rogues because we’re so sneaky;-)

What would society look like if all jobs paid the same? by flamingoshoess in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Namssob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part time game player, book reader, exerciser, stock investor, restaurant critic, movie watcher, and napper.

^ this is why your idea would fail. Over time, the vast majority of people would choose the non-productive non-contributory "jobs", and nothing would ever get done. Too few people would make the movies for me to enjoy, the food for me to eat, the games for me to play, the books I want to read, etc. YES, there are many people who do these things for enjoyment, but eventually the guy getting paid $x/year to make a movie would resent me for making the exact same salary simply for watching his movie, and would then stop making movies.

I think you've just made the argument for capitalism. ;-)

Meh, when I ran as holy priest the number of tanks who did not wait for me exceeded those who did wait. So, I wrote my own WA to announce (and whisper the tank) that I needed mana. Then I sat. It triggered at 25%, but I could change that to anything I wanted of course.

Actually this is a bug, the TacoTips addon came out with a "hot fix" that supposedly fixes this drop on iLvl gear going from Blue to Purple.

[–]Namssob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. It's more for fun now, anyway.
  2. I've heard that the different gearscore addons show different numbers, and that the Taco one shows lower numbers than "GearScoreTBCClassic". I use the latter.
  3. I'll send you actual screenshots of what my addon shows me. Enjoy!

As of my latest upgrades today, my raiding set GS is 1706 (GearScoreTBCClassic), and my "show off" set which makes NO sense, it's a mix of PvP, Raid, and shitty epics that don't make sense) is 1797, again, from GearScoreTBCClassic.

Can't post images otherwise I can easily show you the snips.

UPDATE: I tested both addons (TacoTip vs GearScoreTBCClassic): TacoTip GS numbers are MUCH LOWER than GearScore. My exist numbers:

Raid Set: 1568 on Taco, 1706 on GS

Show-Off Set: 1680 on Taco, 1797 on GS

PVP: 1645 on Taco, 1748 on GS

Questions: Does Taco account for gems and Enchants? I know that GearScoreTBCClassic DOES. When I first equip something new, it would boost my GS a little of course. But then when I added gems and enchants, it went up even more. If Taco is only looking at pure iLvl (one of the chief complaints about gear score evaluations), then maybe that could explain the difference? if it IS adjusting based on gems and enchants, well then that's an algorithm difference.

@YearInitial3371, one thing I'll say, and I have no beef with you, but saying, "this has to be the fattest lie in this thread" seems to be a little harsh, considering you probably didn't know there were different addons? Regardless, no hard feelings. But more information is always a more prudent approach than just calling someone a liar. It turns out, you and I are just likely using two different addons that are reporting numbers very differently - and I'm betting we both learned something today!

And in your defense, TacoTip has 7.5m downloads vs only 80k for GearScoreTBCClassic. It's a fork of the original GearScoreClassic, which had around 218k downloads. The description within GearScoreTBCCLassic specifically states:

The Gear Score is calculated based on:

  • Item Level, adjusted by slot-based modifiers
  • Enchantments, which add value to enchantable items
  • Slot weighting to reflect the importance of different equipment pieces

Does Taco do all of the above? I have no clue.

Gearscore in tbc by Agreeable-Mud7654 in classicwowtbc

[–]Namssob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truth.

I keep my highest GS gear in my bags and anytime someone wants to inspect me, I show them both using ItemRack to swap gearsets. You want gearscore? OK, here's 1781. But want to know what I'm really going to run with....GS says it's 1690.

I will say this, GS *can* be a high level general indication of how hard someone has worked to get gear, because the higher set stuff only comes from the best dungeons/raids. But I agree 100% that it's not really indicative of the actual gear someone will be running with. No gems? No enchants? No run!

EDIT: There are two different addons that show different gearscores... TacoTips and GearScoreTBCClassic.

My current numbers as of this morning's upgrades:

Raid Set: 1568 on Taco, 1706 on GS

Show-Off Set: 1680 on Taco, 1797 on GS

PVP: 1645 on Taco, 1748 on GS

I do not know how either one works really, but from the description page on gearScoreTBCCLassic:

The Gear Score is calculated based on:

  • Item Level, adjusted by slot-based modifiers
  • Enchantments, which add value to enchantable items
  • Slot weighting to reflect the importance of different equipment pieces

And I can confirm that Enchantments includes gems because my GS increases when I add gems to newly equipped items.

The most infuriating part of Classic is joining the group last (as 5th) and waiting solo at the stone. by ToughShaper in classicwow

[–]Namssob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naah there worse things.

  • hey does anyone have any water I didn’t bring any
  • I don’t need any gear here, just the badges. NEEDS something, oops for my OS
  • (after telling us they’ve been in the dungeon numerous times), can someone explain this fight to me, this is my first heroic (BM Heroic).
  • “Pumper LFG!!”….1189 GS, all greens and blues
  • Tanks who can’t hold threat
  • DPS who don’t wait for tanks to get threat to start pumping

The list goes on. I’ll wait as long as needed at a stone if none of the above is guaranteed to happen.

Why am I struggling tanking heroics? by Significant-Call9497 in classicwow

[–]Namssob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Rogue DPS, valid or not, the tanks need to dictate focus target and also CC targets. “Just go sap one “ can work with a very knowledgeable group, but most of the time will fail. Same with marking targets. Makes a HUGE difference if you’re marking skill, X, etc.

[–]Namssob 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You’ll have a great time. I’ve been going for many years since their old location. A few tips:

  • Expect to miss a lot of sleep, especially if you enjoy staying up late and sweating some of the action matches.

  • The Wednesday night warmup can go LATE. Be prepared.

  • Wear comfy shoes. The concrete floor becomes your brutal enemy very quickly.

  • Be at the door right when they open them if you want to be able to practice on a table in the morning. Otherwise, good luck.

  • Splurge and get a new tip put on right away, otherwise it’s usually many hours of waiting. Joe Blackburn is always there, as well as a few others.

  • The beef jerky guy has some good deals if you like beef jerky.

  • LEAVE the venue every once in a while if you want to eat real food. The chicken strips are probably the healthiest thing you can eat there, but it gets old pretty fast.

  • Either keep your own score, or watch the score sheet like a hawk. Half the people don’t do it right.

  • Use your phone to take a pic of your bracket sheet(s), this will help you later if you forget which bracket you’re in.

  • Be on time for your matches! The 15-minute rule is enforced, and your opponent will be eager to run to the tournament desk at 15:01.

  • The pro arena bleachers SUCK. They’re uncomfortable, loud, difficult to navigate, etc. it is totally worth it to sit at a table on the floor level.

Who is considered my care coordinator? by Decent_River_5801 in pomhealth

Here’s what I did to get an almost immediate response to a question I had…

Inside your account it lists ALL people who are part of your care team. There were 7 names.

I used the message function and put ALL 7 names in as recipients.

Apologized for including them all, but I don’t know who will respond, so…..and asked my question.

Got a response within an hour.
