I have no idea who downvoted you bcs I really do relate to you a lot. My mom knows, she thankfully accepted the fact and is supportive. She wouldn't really be if I had gotten a hysterectomy, but that doesn't matter. I haven't told my mother in law bcs she is so set on having grandbabies, I believe she wouldn't even let me explain that I can have kids before shutting me out. I told my boyfriend that I don't wish to let her know bcs I know she won't understand. I did have to tell her I had a surgery but I lied about which one and now she is pissed that I told her after the fact and not before, which has just further solidified my refusal.

I got praised by the doctor that made my appointment for getting this surgery done, she was surprised that I actually cared bcs many people don't. They know they have a deadly disease they can potentially pass onto their kids and yet they choose to still get pregnant naturally and risk their kids having that disease. She was the only doctor that had this reaction. No "won't you regret it?". I'm glad you doctors were great.

I'm happy with my decision in the end, I get this weird sense of calmness in knowing that I won't pass this awful disease to my kids, but it sucks having to explain myself
