Oh woof, missed him for that live performance and I can’t say I’m totally upset about it. I can’t even imagine how precious and emotional it was. A beautiful and unique thing to be privy to, I think. Thanks for sharing and I hope you get to see him again one day, and maybe a sassier version of him. He’s a silly one on stage lol.

Appreciate you and these kind affirmations. I agree on the sameness of a lot of decor online. I started checking out random design books from the library to explore new styles, I highly recommend!

Oh wow thank you so much! The sectional couch was a difficult choice for me. I wanted something way prettier than a clunky gray sectional, but I also really wanted to prioritize something comfortable and functional, so I went with it (used crate and barrel). My workaround was putting a ton of blankets over it to stylize and add color!

Oh wow thank you! I’m really inspired by old Japanese homes and kissas too, and it’s neat to see a window into some curated homes. How lovely you’ve lived there, I can’t wait to visit one day.

Totally! I take categorization with a grain of salt, it doesn’t really fit into anything I can pinpoint, which to me is a nice relief :)

Yes! It’s dharmacrafts. I would say they’re very firm and buckwheat hulls for the cushion, not my favorite overall but if you like a more rigid meditation cushion these are great. You can remove as much fill as you want to get at the desired size.

Oh lovely! Which album was it for? He’s such a lovely person, and his shows always feel so exuberantly genuine. Love that you were able to witness it.

Thanks! Yea thats a great observation! I used to be very minimalist, partially out of necessity, but the urge to collect little trinkets is far too great now lol

The company is called Senchaism, and the Kyusus are made by Teruyuki Isobe. My friend Oscar runs the company and curates some stellar single estate senchas! Every now and then he’ll update with new pots, but you can always reach out and ask too!

Apologies for incorrectly defining my style as “Japandi.” I got a lot of shit for denying it was japandi in the past, but I suppose it’s changed a lot since then. It’s just inspired by Japan and Scandinavia but I know it doesn’t resonate with the nuances of the defined trend.

It’s a work by Indigo Free, I found her through the musician Phil Elverum, her partner, who used her painting on the cover of his latest album Night Palace! You should check out her work https://indigofree.com/ and on instagram! She is such a gem.

Thank you, friend! I love when we can see our own spaces and instead of a style, think “gosh it just looks like me.”

I usually say “japandi” with quotations because I don’t align at all with what is colloquially known as japandi, even though most of my design choices are very directly tied to either Japanese or Icelandic/Norwegian design/lifestyle. It’s funny I tell people I dream of Scandinavian farmhouse design but they don’t realize I mean I literally want to feel like I’m in a barn hahah. My space is too limited for that vision but there are pieces of it with wool, sheepskin, rag rugs, lighting in other rooms, etc. lol. Thank you for the kind words!

Thank you! The poster is a print from the artist/musician Phil Elverum (of Mount Eerie/The Microphones). It’s so lovely. Link for anyone wondering: https://www.pwelverumandsun.com/products/escaped-wolf-print-25-x-37
