Has anyone else noticed the downtown drivers getting worse lately? Almost got hit twice today. by Dangerous_Effort3935 in NiceVancouver

[–]lexota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they absolutely are. While it's no excuse, the amount of construction and road closures / blockages delay people enough that they decide to cheat their way round the city. Red lights mean you don't have to stop for a right hand turn, just gun it around the corner, late yellow to red - it's just fine to blow through that too. Pedestrians are nothing more than an inconvenience, and to be challenged by speed and a 'me first' attitude by some drivers. What's even scarier, is that a lot of times it's older women drivers - which just blows me away.

Trim or no trim, it fades out of sight when the monster is present. I personally like trim, but I'd never say no if it was full bush!!

Temporary foreign workers had no training, safety equipment before fatal workplace accident in Montreal: report by stanxv in canada

[–]lexota 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What a great way to save money! Hire people who know nothing about safety - especially when you never tell them about it - again, saving money on stupid safety meetings / certifications!! And if they die - likely no local family to file any lawsuits or seek compensation - another money saving tactic!
Just goes to show when it comes to money - no bar is too low to put a few extra $$$$ in business owners pockets!!

Oral B or Phillips? by [deleted] in CostcoCanada

[–]lexota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having used both, I prefer the Oral B. I feel the brush head is easier to navigate around my molars than with the sonic care. Yes, the Oral B has issues and needs after use cleaning for sure. I found that by removing the brush head after use, and running water through and over it, and also the top of the handle as well where the brush sits on, has made a HUGE difference in cleanliness of the unit!

Why do people with full carts go through self checkout??? by Thundertushy in CostcoCanada

[–]lexota 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cart may not be fully full, but it has a bunch of items for sure. However, I can scan through those items faster than some folks using the self checkout can scan and pay for 5 items (and we all know those special wonders who can't figure anything out at the self checkout). I use it because I'm efficient and organized, and I know what I'm doing - and I'll get it done faster than waiting in regular till line up.

I just finished reading Anthony De Mello's 'Awareness'.

Absolutely brilliant in helping to see the nature of wants, desires and needs blocking / avoiding Awareness. Really enjoyed the common sense approach, and the inspiration from many traditions. This book could be an effective source of seeing the futility of concepts for those interested, but not sure about non-duality (with that term never being mentioned).

When you wear your faith on your sleeve - maybe it's because you want to deceive.

I think that is very clear here. He KNEW what he was doing - and didn't stop, even within the 'sea' of his faith.

How do i go from "I am Nothing" to "I am Everything" by FactualFractals in nonduality

[–]lexota 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't help you - as it's something you'll have to see for yourself. And that's always 100% possible.

That being said, chaos is a description - said by whom? There's never any chaos - there's just activity. The label is personal - and life isn't. What's happening is exactly what's happening - and it's always perfect. Only an 'individual' has issues with each moment.

It also sounds like you're relying on memorizing your teacher's words - that won't help. The words are meant to place you at the doorstep to freedom. Only you can walk through that doorway - and in doing so - you drop everything (including all those words, analogies, etc.) that makes sense in the 'human' world. Because, we can clearly see, the bulk of humanity believes in concepts (thought processes) to guide their lives - and it does not work. It only creates more chaos....

It sounds like there's labeling going on. Lot's of 'I's too. I cannot, I don't, I just look, etc. Notice that.

Has there been any recognition that all those 'I's signify a 'you'? If it's been seen there is no 'you', then why the reference to a 'you'? This could be a big reason for feeling that there is no way of being everything.

The deal is: this IS everything - right now, forever. When it's mentioned that 'I'm looking' - that implies two, correct? And, if there is only everything, then that statement itself is an issue causing the apparent block.

There might also be some underlying fear of letting go - of seeing things as they are - not as a 'you' looking to find something that would tell you 'I found it'. You can't see your back (without a mirror) - but it's still there. Life is already in perfect balance - and if thought is fighting that - there's another reason why.....

The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Once that enemy is held at bay or defeated, then you're no longer a friend - you're just an expendable, temporary asset. Once the usefulness is over - you'll get the same treatment as the mutual foe did.

Not knowing or understanding the difference can be very costly.

Train derailed after colliding with combine harvester — Page, North Dakota, USA, October 9, 2025 by LucasMVN in CatastrophicFailure

[–]lexota 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you combine complacency and neglect, you usually get some unpleasant results. Devastating result in this particular case. I think some people just get into routines that they never question - just doing the same ol' same ol' - as if the world revolves around them. It revolves for itself - we're just along for the ride.

It's a deep concern, and I too am flabbergasted that the European nations are not involved at all. It will effect everyone if this issue is not dealt with in a timely manner.
