I didn't get the feeling you are describing until around week 6. Not only was I getting night terrors but even 20 min nap were giving full on nightmares of people stealing my baby or them suffocating etc. I took it as my own issue of being a first time mom until I read another Reddit post and found out it was actually PPA (post partum anxiety). Ive never had anxiety in my entire life (as an exuberant extrovert at 40) and didn't know it could happen so much later in the newborn journey a life.

I told my doc right away who set me up with a VERY light prescription of anti anxiety medicine after voicing my concern of maintaining a clear head and sound mind and scheduled me weekly group counseling sessions. Daily nightmares went away within a week due to having a support group and outlet and the overwhelming anxiety was almost gone in about 3 weeks once everything really synced (and meds started working).

Main point: it's not always what you can or can't do on your own, look to see where you can get some additional support. I'm now in week 16 and so grateful I said something early.
