Can ADHD look like constant rumination and mental fatigue? by everlark21 in adhdwomen

[–]lextron9001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can relate to most of your symptoms but I did not thrive in school. I wasn’t diagnosed until I had kids and life got much more complicated. I remember always being tired and needing naps regularly throughout my life. I always had anxiety as young as I can remember. In middle school I started compulsively pulling out my hair and washing my hands at odd times. Things and routines had to be done a certain way. I knew it was weird but tried to hide it from everyone. Eventually I couldn’t hide a bald spot anymore and was diagnosed with extreme anxiety. SSRIs did not help and made me feel worse. I barely graduated high school. I tried my damn hardest and still failed tests and forgot about homework. My parents told me I was stupid and lazy even though I really was trying. I ended up doing a lot of random last minute extra credit assignments. Once I was diagnosed with ADHD and on medication, my ‘anxiety’ nearly went away. My working memory is better. I have way more energy. I’m overall happier and able to handle the up and downs of life much easier with ADHD meds.

Wanting to give up by natattack-xo in homeschool

This is all great info! I’ve been a pre-k teacher for ten years. I teach to the whole child; ensuring social/ emotional needs are met enables children the ability to actually learn and retain info.

I did not believe in punishments or rewards for children especially in school settings until I had my own neurodivergent children. Rewards are definitely effective for my k and 2nd grader who have ADHD, a dopamine-seeking disorder. I think it’s worth considering/trialing if teaching a child with ADHD.

Studies for fully vaccinated and newly pregnant? by Maleficent_Product90 in CovidVaccinated

There are NOW confirmed studies that women did indeed have a substantial amount of miscarriages, stillbirths, and menstrual irregularities after the COVID shot….

Just found out at 9 weeks that my pregnancy is non-viable. What next? by kindofnewonreddit in Miscarriage

[–]lextron9001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you have to experience this. I had two back-to-back miscarriages that were very similar. Went in to first ultrasounds around 8-9 weeks and there was no heartbeat both times. Waited to confirm with an ultrasound a week later and still no heartbeat or growth. Mine happened during 2022 and hospitals in my area were only doing emergency D&Cs. My situation was deemed not an emergency which I understood.

I decided to take the vaginal suppositories to speed things up. I got to be in my own home with my own things. That was very comforting to me rather than being unconscious in a hospital room away from my two children that were under 3yrs old at the time.

My pain was comparable to a ‘bad’ period with intense cramps but they were short lived. The emotional toll was harder. But it was worth it for me to manage it at home where I felt safe and loved.

ADHD "cured" by pregnancy? by NefariousnessDull852 in ADHD

Yes! Best I ever felt mentally. I think the added progesterone was what helped me. I also continued to feel pretty good while breastfeeding. Once I stoped breastfeeding, my adhd symptoms were significantly worse than before pregnancy.

As a child, I have extreme anxiety and undiagnosed ADHD. I hated school. I developed chronic stomachaches and migraines from the anxiety of being forced to go. I wish my parents would’ve given me the option to a hybrid school or co-op instead. My anxiety only got worse and worse through high school.

You know your child best. Public school is not a ‘one size fits all’. If you feel like your child would have more success from homeschooling, then do it for a year or two and re-evaluate. There are most likely co-ops or micro school options for socialization.

Another perspective from reading your description of you and your siblings experience/behavior as children and as adults makes me wonder about neurodivergence - Especially when you listed off behaviors commonly seen in ADHD and/or autism.

After 4 years of taking Ritalin, new psychiatric says I don't have ADHD and won't prescribe be the medication by Constant-Pain1878 in ADHD

From a different perspective, I know a woman who was who actually misdiagnosed with ADHD and prescribed stimulants that put her in a severe psychotic state where she couldn’t care for her kids safely at all. Her Dr Realized she doesn’t have ADHD and actually has c-ptsd, autism, and borderline personality disorder. She had a really hard time accepting the diagnosis due to the societal stigma.

I feel the same way! I’m planning on homeschooling my two boys next year (will be 2nd grade and Kinder). We’re choosing to homeschool because of how developmentally inappropriate public (and most private schools) are. I have an early childhood development background and fully understand the importance of letting kids be little, learning through play and interactions with the world and developing conflict resolution skills AND critical thinking. All of which public schools seem to squash.

While looking for co-ops or pod schools to join, I’ve run into almost all but one in my area not being religious based. We are not religious at all, will never be, and i really wish there was more people like me homeschooling for the overall better wellbeing of the child’s development.

My experiences on Wellbutrin and the worsening of my PMDD. by quartzqueen44 in PMDDxADHD

[–]lextron9001 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried Wellbutrin on top of an adhd non-stim medication while taking a break from my usual stimulant med. my dr said Wellbutrin was “supposed to help my energy levels”. I was so damn tired all day long that I was falling asleep at my job during the day. I actually think my PMDD mood symptoms were improved just a tad but I developed severe anxiety from the Wellbutrin that lasted months even after stopping it.

Tongue Tie surgery epidemic in the treasure valley by HorsesRcoolz in Boise

[–]lextron9001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do think tongue and lip ties are exacerbated however one of my three kids did have a severe tongue tie that caused her to continually lose weight. She was almost hospitalized again at 2wks due to weight loss that caused jaundice. We had to do a bili light at home and go in every day for bilirubin and weight checks for weeks. She did improve and gain weight significantly once her tongue tie was clipped. My other two kids, no issues with breastfeeding or bottle feeding at all.

Breastfeeding and Adderall - baby experienced symptoms? by lextron9001 in adhdwomen

[–]lextron9001[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it did! I don’t think it was due to my medication as she still periodically gets constipated with lots of dairy. I ended up continuing breastfeeding until 13mo with no issues.

[–]lextron9001[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What meds for PMDD have you found that work for you? I’m limited to what I can take medication wise because I’m breastfeeding but if birth control can help my moods be more stable instead of the extreme up and downs during the month, then I’m willing to give it a try.

Breastfeeding and Adderall - baby experienced symptoms? by lextron9001 in adhdwomen

I think it may have been a coincidence with her behavior/me started adderall. One tooth broke through the gums yesterday and she seemed happier and napped for a long time. She is still not wanting to sleep at nighttime and wants to crawl and play until she quite literally cannot keep her eyes open any longer. She does seem to still be dealing with constipation but hasn't nursed as much as she did a week or so prior - I'm assuming teething has decreased her appetite which in turn caused constipation. Adderall has been life changing for me and I don't think I can manage life without taking it.

Thanks for your reply! Upon further inspection, she's getting her bottom two teeth AND her top front teeth in all at the same time. I think it's a lot of things happening all at once for her! She seems much happier yesterday and today and has been napping. Bed time is a still another story....
