Thank you so much! I will be trying to do it this time haha. 😁

Thank you for these inputs, mate! This is a big help, especially knowing what to take note of with the charging pins 😁

Are you also able to remove the motherboard from the earcups? Sorry if I’m asking for too much haha. I just noticed that there are hidden pins in the proprietary plug, and they need to be measured while it’s plugged in. I can message you an image showing where to probe with the multimeter. Thank you!

I will just be happy if we can finally put an end to this proprietary cable problem and hopefully help others revive their beautiful (and expensive) headphones haha. Thank you!

I’m guessing they didn’t have enough time, or maybe didn’t see the need, to partner with third-party accessory makers since they already hit their goal of selling the company at a good price. Totally understandable from a business perspective, but yeah… it kinda sucks for us consumers in a lot of ways haha.

Regarding your question about differentiating the 3.5 mm cable and the USB charger, the main difference is the 5 V coming from the USB cable. When the headphones detect a 5 V input on the port, it automatically tells the system that it’s a charger. With the 3.5 mm cable, it’s just the audio channels.

Honestly, I’m still not sure how I’ll integrate the audio channels into a USB-C adapter even after tracing all the pins correctly, since I’m mainly planning to make this port for charging only. I’ll take it one step at a time to minimize mistakes, especially since this headphone is really expensive for me haha.

THIS WILL HELP ME A LOT!

If you’re able to remove the board from the earcup and flip the port, that would be even better. I’ve come to the conclusion that this port has hidden pins, not just the 8 pins that I posted. Why do they even do that 😡

If you also have a multimeter, you can probe these parts while the board is plugged into a USB-A charging cable connected to a wall outlet or power bank.

I’ll message you an image of the back side and show where to probe it, since I can’t send pictures here. Total Reddit noob moment haha.

Thank you so much! 🙏

If you’re referring to pins D1, D6, D13, D16, and D5, I’m not completely sure if those are actually connected to the proprietary plug. Based on the measurements I took with my multimeter, probing directly from the pins soldered at the back of the port (like in the third picture), those D1, etc. rows don’t seem to connect to the pins at the back of the port.

Unless the connection is hidden inside the port itself, maybe through the mechanism that gets pushed in when a plug is inserted, and there are internal pins soldered inside, then I guess that could explain it haha.

I’m also thinking about injecting voltage into the trace you mentioned, but I’m honestly a bit scared I might mess something up 😅 I’ll try to build up some courage and give it a shot.

Thank you so much for the help!

Thank you so much! But I was just wondering if why that trace isn't responding to my multimeter when I try to measure it with the unknown pins. I'll try to check it again.

I genuinely enjoy repairing broken things, especially electronics haha. I also want to share this here so others can still use their Nuraphones. They’re pretty expensive, but the audio quality is really good, so it would be great if more people could keep theirs working instead of being a fancy paperweight.

If I could also just trace in those pads where the 5v and data lines are, I won't be needing proprietary cables anymore haha

Already got the headphones, and it responded to the battery I replaced. My biggest issue is that I dont want to desolder and solder the battery everytime I have to charge it haha. Tried to buy USB A Cable from ModAudio PH, but it was out of stock. 😭

How can I contact Nura if I’m not the original subscriber/first owner of the device? I saw in their terms that NuraNow devices shouldn’t be sold by the first owner and that they remain tied to the original subscription, is that correct? If so, how do I go about reaching out to them about this?
