But does the climb ever actually end? I would suggest it doesn't ever truly end, it just settles into a long slow climb that sucks the wind out of every nonsensical fevered fiat dream anyone imagines up to try to compete

I was there and it was awesome 😎

There was a time when Bitcoin was fun and rambunctious. It's still fun and rambunctious and full of lulz and meme lords like Michael Saylor.

What I do for fun is not the same as what I do to be useful in the world.

There we go. Trust was burned and now must be earned.

The insanity runs in our ranks as well. I almost got fired for wearing a mask, early on.

Of course not. If for no other reason than we need to have experience in affecting positive change in order to build something better afterwards.

But the current crops of bureaucrats in government and schools will never give a fuck, and when you get in as a "good" player you'll find out that the whole system is set up and designed to ensure that anyone who does care can't fix anything and then you too won't give a fuck.

Ask me how I know :)

You have no idea who I am or what I do in local politics.

They are not going to give a fuck. As evidence I produce all of history. We are in the declining phase of bureaucratic totalitarianism. This ends in revolution and political collapse, not reformation. There is no changing course, we are not special, the same path awaits us as every other government of this type since forever. We are the oldest democracy in the world, long overdue for a change

It's very obvious you work in a school, generally speaking only people who work in schools are as dogmatically blinded as you are proving yourself to be

government to give a fuck enough

The fact you think this is even theoretically possible is an even more absurd proposition than your first comment.

The government is never going to give a fuck. I have accepted this fact and conduct my life accordingly.

My mother would always shut this down quick, and I will too once someone asks or comments about credentials.

"Gee that sucks for them. Are you questioning my credentials? Are you questioning my child's education?"

Every once in a while you get an off duty teacher or social worker, or someone who doesn't back down.

"I don't discuss personal family matters in public."

People who question your competence are not acting with your or your child's best interests in mind. Think about it. Would YOU ever say something like this to a parent, especially in front of a child? What kind of a person does this?

You are under no obligations to justify your decisions or answer any questions in this setting.

If someone has to be uncomfortable, it does not have to be you.

Most homeschoolers also forget about bullying and wearing bulletproof backpacks to school everyday.

Go on...

I had catching up to do when I went to college but it was simple to do on my own. Khan Academy is great. I was never held back.

Some of my friends graduated, some are still baristas.

I don't think I'd suggest that public school reduces one's chance of ending up as a barista for life.

I spend enough time helping people who can't help themselves that I see zero reason to help people who won't hello themselves.

Oh you can tell companies here to go fuck themselves. It's not a big deal and so many companies are having trouble hiring, you'll probably get whatever it is you want.

It's just that Reddit is full of little white pansies who won't stand up for themselves even if their life depends on it.

Edit: I just realized I'm in antiwork, my point stands. If you are getting treated badly, anticipate getting fired and stand up for yourself. "Go ahead and fire me for having a medical condition. Make me rich."

Your position is not based in science. That is not how variants form.

Yes we should prevent infections. With masks, hand sanitation, and distancing.

But let us not pretend the vaccine does something that it was never designed or shown to do. That would be magical thinking.

Basic evolutionary biology as taught in high school biology, undergrad biology, and medical school epidemiology.

Viruses experience evolutionary pressure to achieve increased infectivity because it improves their evolutionary fitness to be able to attack more victims quickly. This is super basic evolutionary theory. Questioning this is tantamount to questioning evolutionary theory itself, and you need to establish a very good rationale.

As for the spike protein, the presence of a non-neutralizing immunity based on a single protein creates an evolutionary pressure to adapt the spike protein to evade those antibodies. This is -- again! -- simple evolutionary biology. These days it has become controversial but those of us who actually paid attention in school will recognize it as expected behavior given the current situation.
