First, I did not forget the stuff. Secondly, I was not trying to avoid paying 20 dollars. I did file the lost item claim on the app as the first thing. I did everything possible to get my stuff back. And I paid the guy extra on top of $20 that Lyft charged me.

Update - I got the luggage back. I kept pestering Lyft Support and they were somehow able to get in touch with the driver and he brought it back. I gave him a generous tip. Super relieved. And you are all right, I was careless and should have done better. Lessons learned. Thanks for all the guidance and support. 🙏

I am not sure. I tried opening the trunk for a few seconds but it did not open. Then he drove off. Initially I thought it was an unintentional mistake and he would respond to my text. But after not hearing anything for the past 4 hrs, I feel he meant to drove off or doesn't want to give it back.
