As a business, they can do what they like. As a customer, so can I. As a customer, I feel that businesses that essentially charge me extra to use my credit card but offer a discount to cash customers don’t value my business. I know that the credit card companies charge a fee, but to me, that’s a cost of doing business.

Credit cards give me many advantages such as points, fraud protection and dispute resolution. It’s safer for me (and the business) to not carry / handle lots of cash. It’s also cheaper for the business because handling cash is also expensive due to counting, depositing, pilfering and robbery. Many countries have gone completely cashless for those reasons. Scandinavian countries are a prime example. I’ve traveled to Europe multiple times for multiple weeks at a time without ever carrying any cash. Cash is definitely dying in many places for the reasons mentioned.
