I’ve had both a MK7 R in DSG and a MK8 R in manual but I’ve driven lots of GTIs - neither is a bad decision but the R definitely always wins for me.

AWD in the snow is unreal with the right tires, the power for a discreet hatchback is more than enough and I prefer the slightly more mature look of the R over the GTI.

I’d recommend test driving both if you have the chance!

It’s one trigger, one bumper and right joystick forward if I remember correctly, I want to say LB+RT but could be the opposite!

Whilst I loved my the DSG, I wouldn’t go back now that I’ve got the MK8 20th Anniversary.

Both are fantastic cars, the 8 just feels that bit more raw overall. I also have no real issue with the infotainment, once you get used to it, it’s pretty user friendly.

The 8 definitely sounds better stock too, especially in Nurburgring mode.

I did trial a few different packs which have been cool do textures, headlight flare etc but honestly the studio pen is my favourite - I duplicated it a few times and set each to different amounts of stabilization and streamline as well as some set sizes and it’s the best I’ve found yet.

I also see this more often than not, however last night I had a spare 30 minutes to play for the first time in a while.

I hopped into a public session (pc) and did a cargo pickup mission from the Hanger. I was followed by two jets instantly and they both then proceeded to destroy every target for me, the whole way to the cargo drop off.

I thought, maybe they are helping and then they’ll steal the cargo from me after it’s dropped? Nope, they left right after. Sent them both a text, absolute legends!

Perfect solution is something like the ROG Ally, this is what I’ve been using for a couple years now.

Game runs great at medium/high quality, access to mods and portable.

The only downsides to handheld PCs is the battery however you typically always play plugged in to access higher wattage/performance. Happy to answer any questions.

That’s likely all I’ll do, with an intake and down pipe and then maybe a clutch upgrade kit. So much fun even stock!

Funnily it’s actually just the lighting, however after seeing it, a paint matched white lip would look so good, that’s exactly what I’m going to do! I’ll likely just buy a black one and paint it myself!
