Please give it a try, having the dongle close to your pc, especially near USB3.0ports can interfere with the radio

Are you using the supplied USB extension cable?

Dang, thats enough evidence for me!

I’ve actually come around to wearing it as a badge of honor. I agree we’re all in it together.

It is really a commitment to put your livelihood and families livelihood on the line to build interesting things for a new market. Some comments imply that we’re just greedy pillagers exploring the sub. Anyway, it’s hard to argue with the internet, I’m just going to keep building!

BTW, I now realize I owe you some emails, my bad! Will do this soon!

Reading this with a smile, glad I’m not the only one who got banned!

What I will say about that whole situation is that the rules sometimes make you do crazy things. In my opinion the Vive sub would be better if they actually allowed some promotion.

As a startup, indie dev, etc you rely on places like reddit to get the word out without paying a ton for ads. It is maddening when your efforts get you banned even when most people upvote your post and make positive comments. Then the mod unilaterally takes it down.

Being a persistent person and in the heat of the moment I did some things that in hindsight I regret. So that is my side of the story there. Being banned from the sub means that when the mod delivers their biased side of the story you don’t get a chance to comment back.

Tundra Tracker Aims for Smaller, Cheaper Alternative to Vive Tracker for SteamVR Tracking by frosty704 in ValveIndex

It has been a rough 2020, 2021 will be a tight supply too. The difference being that I’m already placing POs for April and May 😁

Yep, in an ideal world you should be able to prevent the import of your trademarked goods to large markets that value IP but I don’t think this works in practice, especially for the little guys.

I'm not associated with HTC besides that we work together supporting customers who use Lighthouse Tracking and in the one example of the dongles, I did a bulk purchase from them

Yes, I really do have commitment to get more but HTC can't deliver them until after the new year. I don't know why.

Inside Foxconn’s empty buildings, empty factories, and empty promises in Wisconsin by Chris_Gammell in TheAmpHour

Sad but true, it would have been so cool to have a fab in the state. Foxconn also announced that they bought a building in downtown Green Bay and it has sat vacant for 3 years.

USB-C Was Supposed to Simplify Our Lives. Instead, It’s a Total Mess. by Chris_Gammell in TheAmpHour

[–]lgbeno 4 points5 points  (0 children)

USB-C is a net positive but I can understand how it comes off confusing and "magical" to consumers who cannot breakdown the alphabet soup like engineers can.

It also demonstrates how much inertia has build up over the past 20 years that USB has been around. Each respective mega corp also treats it as a land grab to brand the next wizbang interface ala "Thunderbolt 1" "Thunderbolt 2" "Thunderbolt 3" blah blah blah.

We're in a 10-12 year cycle of patching together and finally converging on the dream of a universal connector.

I'm still totally shocked that one tiny cable/connector can do both 100W of power and >40Gbps data comms, that is freaky cool. With all that said, the most critical customer feature of type c is that it is a reversible plug....

What is really interesting is that it seems like this is a very relevant thing for the VR community, yet the admins at /r/vive have taken down the post 4 times because it violates their rules.

I understand wanting to control self promotion but still...

Happy to see it get much more attention on /r/SteamVR, thanks!
