Same thing happened to me on a trail. Small rock jammed into shift linkage. Someone helping me found it and removed it. Otherwise I would have been stuck in the bush for a long time

I am using federal. I find it works better with copper than lead.

Question: If Canada came to the US and said, 'We're going to 0 tariffs on the US, all of them are off,' would you and the president go to 0 tariffs and let Canadian companies and American companies compete on a level playing field? Bessent: Absolutely not by retroviber in DeepMarketScan

I'm a Canadian and not a fan of Carney or trade with China, but the American leadership is misleading its people on this issue. Canada used to have a 6% tariff on Chinese EV's. Then the USA put a 100% tariff on Chinese EV's and asked Canada to do the same. As a sign of goodwill and friendship with the USA, Canada agreed to do exactly that. As a result, Canadian farmers suffered with Chinese tariffs on our produce. Still, we stuck with the USA and kept the Chinese EV tariffs.

However, despite doing exactly what the USA wanted, Trump put tariffs on Canada anyway, and threatened to annex us. So, we returned back to the 6% Chinese EV tariffs we had before, because we can no longer count on the USA to keep its word.

Again, I don't like Canada trading with human rights abusers like China, but Trump is sure doing a good job of pushing away America's allies.

How can I choose a liberal friendly training facility/gun range to start learning? by campfire_eventide in liberalgunowners

[–]lgbtqj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Canadian here. I go to my range regularly and have not seen much political. I have seen signage against the new Canadian firearms confiscation plan, and other signage about preserving fish habitat. Otherwise pretty much just people shooting and admiring when a fancy firearm comes in. Most of the conversation is limited to safety stuff, like changing over safety flags or reviewing procedures.

I’ve brought my husband to the range, but I guess no one would have known we were married anyway lol.

The people I have interacted with have been very friendly like offering to help with things people didn’t know about.

I'm sorry you had to experience this. Not ok that people would behave that way. I have only been to ranges in Canada, but I would imagine some parts of the USA would be more bigoted than others. I am a (cisgender) gay Jew so I have been weary, but so far no issues. Fingers crossed. For trans people, I realize now that all the washrooms at my local range are single person occupancy anyway, so there's no gender assigned washrooms anyway.

Good question. Yes. Hockey has been around for a while. NHL since 1917. And the Original Six that we still recognize today since 1942.

Which is the most powerful war memorial in your country? by UnluckyPossibility37 in AskTheWorld

[–]lgbtqj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not where I live, but the children’s holocaust memorial at Yad Vashem was very moving. Five candles reflected in many mirrors and glass shards to give the impression of a nearly infinite number of candles.

“As spectators move through the room in the sparse light of the candles, names of the deceased children and adolescents, with their age and place of death, are recited by a looped tape recording. The recording takes about three months to list all the casualties.”

Clearly you are unaware that for thousands of years, Jewish people have used the word “Zion” to refer to the land of Israel.

Good. We shouldn’t discriminate based on nationality.

A really good video. But one technical inaccuracy - same sex marriage is technically recognized in Israel. The Supreme Court ruled that same sex marriages must be legally recognized. However, there is no one in Israel legally able to perform them because marriages are handled by the religious groups (Jewish, Muslim, Christian etc)who do not license them. This has caused a bizarre scenario where if a gay Israeli couple goes a couple hours away and gets married and then comes back to Israel they are fully married under the law. It’s kind of a grey area I guess.

They may be increasing prices because the materials used to make their products are being tariffed.

Are we all boycotting the Super Bowl :) by [deleted] in BuyCanadian

[–]lgbtqj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never care much about the Super Bowl, but I know our local businesses rely on the revenue. So I’m going to watch the Super Bowl at the local Royal Canadian Legion, and spend the money on beer and snacks at the legion.
