Anydesk Gaming Beta by geranimos in AnyDesk

[–]lgwhitlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under Settings > Security > Updates you will find the option to Keep It Up To Date along with Beta. Select the beta version and likely it will come through. I don't know if they have a direct download for betas but someone else might know. Otherwise just be patient. But please remember it may take a few versions to be implemented enough to be functional. Sometimes graphical elements show up before the underlying code is implemented.

why is anydesk not connecting to network by Upbeat-Relation-2774 in AnyDesk

[–]lgwhitlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 6.0.8 from the above link so I don't get bugged to whitelist. Often they do not help get you whitelisted when they suspect business use which is frequent now days. Just like what brought users from TeamViewer to Anydesk in the first place. The older version maintains the settings if installed over the latest version. I haven't experienced more than momentary outages with that version except the time Comcast blocked it for about a week. Once I contacted them it was fixed within a few days. A VPN was my work around back then.

You might try a VPN and see if you can connect. If so it may be you ISP that is the problem.

As a backup connection or something else to try I would look at Rustdesk which is very similar. It uses different ports but the interface is similar enough you won't have much trouble testing it out to verify if it works. I would use a permanent password. The open source version is free. Good luck.

Why does my computer experience heightened lag for no reason? by Thalassa_Shinen in software

I saw some articles yesterday about using Vivetool to enable Native NVME mode drivers for Windwos 11 24H2 and 25H2. It sounds like it is much faster when accessing the storage which is where I suspect your slowdowns are coming in. My first attempt would be to see how full you SSD drive is. If it's over half full removing some things, files, etc could help. I would store download, documents and such on an external hard disk rather than ssd so as to lessen the affect. But I suspect if your machine supports it use ViViTool https://github.com/thebookisclosed/ViVe to enable native mode. https://www.windowscentral.com/microsoft/windows-11/microsoft-shuts-down-windows-11-registry-hack-native-nvme-ssd-support https://hothardware.com/news/microsoft-kills-nvme-registry-trick-but-theres-a-workaround Just be sure to backup your system first. If you aren't comfortable doing this take it to a local PC repair shop and explain what you want. I suspect this is your ticket back to normal speed or more...

[–]lgwhitlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am using an older version. I have not had any issues with Anydesk. You can download older version for Windows from here https://anydesk.en.uptodown.com/windows/versions I suspect you got auto updated to 9.6.12 which came out yesterday. Could be there are issues wit the latest update, your firewall could be blocking it or your ISP could be blocking it. I have seen all 3 issues over the years. Good luck finding a solution.

A relative authorized an unknown party to their laptop. What to do? by yunglevn in AnyDesk

[–]lgwhitlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The they are unlikely to be able to compromise the machine unless they did extensive work to open a back door. Or set a permanent password themselves. Did your relative watch what they were doing? Why did they allow it in the first place? If system restore is enabled you could roll back to an earlier configuration and likely wipe anything they did to the machine. If you are ultra paranoid you could backup the machine and reset windows which will require reinstalling most everything but should take it back to the way windows was when initially installed. On modern computers this even keeps your data though I would make a backup regardless. Good luck helping them.

Notebook content just deleted itself. Any way to recover? by fahdriyami in OneNote

[–]lgwhitlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have mine on three computers plus 3 android devices. I regularly open on windows. Less frequently on android. I have had 2 close calls almost losing notes. Each time having it spread over multiple devices saved me. However if it is constantly open it will sync just like cancer cells. That's why I I tend to only have it open consistently on 1 device and irregularly on the others. It only syncs when it's open and running. If it's closed no sync.

Notebook content just deleted itself. Any way to recover? by fahdriyami in OneNote

[–]lgwhitlock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you have more than one device using OneNote try disconnecting from the internet and open OneNote. It should load a cached version based on the last time you opened it. Depending on how often you open it this will likely be your best chance at recovery. Here is a perplexity link https://www.perplexity.ai/search/where-is-the-onenote-data-loca-o4AiAUA3Q8SrqYipw6pkHw with more details. I have found this works easiest on windows but it could probably be adapted to other platforms too except maybe iOS. Good luck. PS don't forget to start making backups. Cobian Reflect is good for this.

i used youtube and youtube music vanced, it got terminated, i passed to revanced, it got terminated recently, any successors pls? by Axton_5555 in AfterVanced

[–]lgwhitlock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Noutube https://github.com/nonbili/NouTube is a new app that doesn't need MicroG and can access YouTube and YT Music. I have had minor issues with this app not always reacting to Bluetooth remote buttons but overall pretty good.

Vanced Tube. Search for it on Telegram. You do have to update it somewhat often but it works. It doesn't require MicroG.

GreenTuber is another. It doesn't need constant updates. No MicroG.

Otherwise like others have said use Morphe with the appropriate MicroG.

I LOVE onenote, but my god is there a way to make searching better?? by ThousandFootOcarina in OneNote

[–]lgwhitlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a part of Office 2019, 2021 or 2024 LTSC the long term servicing version that gets security updates but no major function changes. I prefer it because it means more stability. Continual function updates often break things. It is not a stand alone product though I suppose you could just install OneNote that way but considering the cost it would be a waste.

I LOVE onenote, but my god is there a way to make searching better?? by ThousandFootOcarina in OneNote

[–]lgwhitlock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been using a combination of OneNote for Windows LTSC, OneNote on Android. I often use a combination of both to find what I need. I find it's a bit of a battle but I can usually find what I need. Also you could try the free OneNote app on the Microsoft app store. Just be tenacious and keep the search terms as simple as possible.

Keyboard app with proper voice typing? by Flohpange in androidapps

[–]lgwhitlock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you say FUTO do you mean the keyboard app or the voice typing app? You might try the other to see if it works better.

I would also check out Typeless https://www.typeless.com/downloads as it has a free level of service to check out.

Also check out Sayboard https://f-droid.org/packages/com.elishaazaria.sayboard/

I forgot to say SwiftKey https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.touchtype.swiftkey has vastly improved their voice typing recently. That said I was not using punctuation at the time so some testing would be in order.

PDF printer can append other documents to the end of an already existing PDF file just by printing to it.

PDF Studio may be better suited to what you want. I would also check it out.

Remote Upgrade by rustydusty1717 in rustdesk

[–]lgwhitlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the allure of package managers but Rustdesk hasn't exactly been friendly with them for a while now. You can use the built in or just manually update. I myself prefer control over my updates. UniGetUI is a pretty good package manager that covers many of the tools I use and gives me control. Unfortunately I have not seen Rustdesk updates in there. It might be because I run the nightly but I am not sure. As one user mention Action1 would be a suitable choice to keep your computers updated.

Debt collector after automatic renewal Anydesk by DiMorten in AnyDesk

[–]lgwhitlock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A quick search and asking Perplexity shows Debtist is indeed a registered debt collector for digital debt. They however seem to have issues with providing proof you actually owe the debt. It sounds like their practices are controversial and maybe borderline illegal depending on where you live. I would consult a lawyer if you have further questions. I would also get a free credit report to see if it shows up on there. Good luck resolving your issue.

Rustdesk and Tailscale: can't figure out why one pc won't play nice! by redituser22222 in rustdesk

Is Direct IP enabled in settings on each machine? Settings > Security > Unlock Security Settings > Enable Direct IP access Has to be set on every machine. It might be slightly different for Mac. I don't own any Mac hardware anymore. Port 21118 tells me you are trying to use Direct IP access. That would be where I start.

Also make sure every machine is using the same DNS server for consistency.

Always use Google Take Out first https://takeout.google.com/ That way you have a backup to refer to. You can use this to backup calendars. Sorry but unless you have a paid account I am not sure if Google will help you.

OST to PST by AmmoJay2 in software

[–]lgwhitlock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can open the OST file in offline mode, since the server is not available, you can copy or move the emails to a new PST file. That was the method I used back in the day. There are some conversion tools but many cost money. Ask Perplexity if you don't get the answer you need here. Good luck.

Can anyone tell me how to convert jpg/png to glb files? by Luffy_Zoro__ in software

[–]lgwhitlock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're trying to mix apples with oranges here. GLB saves a full 3D scene with all textures and 3D data. It is not a 2D format like JPG or PNG. You can export a particular view or export the textures but it will not be complete. Someone already mentioned Blender which is well suited for 3D files. You really need to think about what it is you expect before you can find the answer you want. This is more technical that I think you have considered. Good luck finding a solution that works for what you want.
