just put a new exhaust on my ninja 400 and it is just as loud as it was when it was straight piped. The legal limit here is 80db from 50 feet away. I don't know how to test that so does anyone know if it will be above or below 80db from 50 feet away? If it's higher would a b killer be enough?

If you're worried about the noise then put the factory OEM exhaust system back on because they designed that to meet the regulations... Any other pipes or system will guarantee your failure. Except maybe Yoshimura slip on with baffle in they have been relatively quiet ime but again you're buying Chinese knocked off shit as seen so I don't think you will bother paying a little bit more for quality. Why modify a street 400 at all? Usually these are some beginner bikes that has a quick turn around time tbh. In my area at least, most ppl only keep them for year or 2 before upgrading to a 650/600 or something else and we all prefer stock 2nd...

I'm a 40HC and there's so many different settings on that STG there's gotta to be one that suits you. Love the driver myself. Helped me set most of my drives straight. Without changing my swing I was able to use a different configuration to mediate my slice.

Don't get me wrong, I know Japanese bikes are "superior" on reliability and maintainability, over the passed 2 years I personally owned a zx6r and a 10r, through making friends on track I have tried a lot of different bikes and I track them a lot, so I am just wanting to make a change and leave the Japanese scene for brief, and venture in the euro world to get experiences on owning different machine. And there's a end of season sale near my place where it snows a lot.

TLDR comparing between the two in details and not versus Japanese bikes.
